MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION

A multimedia presentation
is a digital aide commonly DIGITAL
LITERACY
used by a speaker to improve TRAINING
the effectivity of his/her
speech.  It contains some
form of animation or media.
MICROSOFT POWERPOINT

• Microsoft PowerPoint is a software created by


Microsoft. It is used to create multimedia
presentations.
• You can create slides that may contain:
 texts  shapes
 lists  charts
 tables  diagrams
 pictures

RIBBON

 Ribbon contains commands and other menu items.


 It is designed to help you quickly find the commands
that you need to complete a task.
OVERVIEW PANE

 The overview pane contains


thumbnail pictures of the slides on
your presentation, in the order
they will be shown.
 Clicking a slide in this pane selects
it and places it in the Workspace.
ANIMATION PANE

 The animation pane allows us to


view the order of the animations that
we assigned to each element in the
slide.
 We can also change the settings (e.g.
timing, duration, effect options) of
each animation.
SLIDES PANE

 The Slides pane is a


part of the window
where you can apply
changes to a slide.
SLIDES, PLACEHOLDERS, AND NOTES
 Slides appear in the center of
1 the window. You create your
presentation on slides.

 Placeholders hold the objects


in your slide. You can use
placeholders to hold text, clip

CREATING A PRESENTATION

When you start PowerPoint, PowerPoint displays the title


slide in the Slide pane. You can type the title of your
presentation and a subtitle on this slide. To enter text:
1. Click and type the title of your presentation in
the "Click to add title" area.
2. Click and type a subtitle in the "Click to add
subtitle" area.
CREATING A TITLE SLIDE

1. Once you open PowerPoint, you are presented with a title


slide.
CREATING NEW SLIDES
After completing your title slide, you can create
additional slides. To create a new slide:

1. Choose the Home tab.


2. Click the New Slide button in the Slides
group. The Office Theme dialog box appears
and displays several layout templates.
3. Click the layout you want. The layout
appears in the Slide pane of the PowerPoint
window.
 Slide layouts define containers,
positioning and formatting for all of the
content that appears on the slide.
CHANGING THE SLIDE LAYOUT

1. Click the Layout button on the Home tab.


This will show a contextual menu of the nine
different slide layout choices in PowerPoint.

2. The current slide layout will be highlighted.


Hover your mouse over the new slide layout
of your choice and that slide type will also
be highlighted. When you click the mouse
the current slide takes on this new slide
layout.
ADDING A SLIDE

To add a slide,

1. Click on the
new slide icon.

2. A new slide will


be added at the
overview pane.
DELETING A SLIDE

To delete a slide,
1.Click the slide that
you want to delete.
2. Push the delete key
on the keyboard.

To change the
presenter view from
normal to slide show,
press the F5 key in
the keyboard.
CHANGING DESIGN TEMPLATES
To change the appearance
of the slide,
1.Click on the Design
button on the ribbon.
2. The design menu will
appear on the ribbon.
3. Click on a template
that you want to use.
4. Your template is
now changed.
WORKING ON TEXT

Texts in a slide are contained in a text box.


INSERTING A TEXTBOX

To insert a text box,


1. Click on the Insert button on
the ribbon.
The Insert menu will appear on
the ribbon.
2. Click on the text box icon
on Insert menu
3. A cursor will appear.
4. Place the cursor on an area
and click it.
A box will appear.
5. Type your text in the textbox.
MOVING A TEXTBOX

To move a textbox,
1. Put your mouse pointer over the
border of the textbox
2. Your mouse pointer will look like

where you want to put your
text box.

INSERTING TABLE
Tables in PowerPoint can be used for formatting a slide or for presenting data.
To insert a table,
1.Click on the Insert button on the ribbon.
The Insert menu will appear on the ribbon.
2. Click on the table icon on Insert menu
3. A grid will appear.
4. Place the cursor on an the last row-last column of desired dimension
of window.
5. Click the left button of the mouse.

INSERTING AN IMAGE

To insert an image,
1. Click on the Insert button on
the ribbon.
The Insert menu will appear
on the ribbon.
2. Click on the Picture
icon on Insert menu.
3. A window will appear.
Select your image from the
window.
Click the “Open” button.
4. Your image is now inserted.
RESIZING AN IMAGE

To resize an image,
1. Click on the image.
Circles will appear on the
corners and on the middle of
every side.
2. Place your cursor in one of the
circles.
3. Click the left button of
your mouse (do not let go)
4. Drag the mouse until you are
satisfied with the size.

CHARTS AND DIAGRAMS
MS PowerPoint also allows users to use charts and diagrams.

TRANSITION

Transition controls the way successive slides move into view. Using
it can help you avoid abrupt break between one slide and the next.
Each slide can only have one transition.
1. Go to Animation Tab -Transition to This Slide
group- click on a slide icon to preview it.

2. After choosing, click on “Apply to all slides”

SAVING AND PRINTING

Check your text for errors by pressing F7.


To save, go to Office Button - Save As.
 Good ideas- save as a 2003 compatible
document
 In pop-up window, give PowerPoint show
a simple file name.
To print the PowerPoint, go to Office
Button - Print.
 Under “Print What” choose “handouts”
and choose the # of slides per page.
PRESENTING

 To start show, press F5.


 To start from a certain slide, click on slide, go to Slide
Show Tab, and choose “From Current Slide.”
 To advance a slide, press Enter (keyboard)
or click the left mouse
 To go back a slide, press Backspace (keyboard)
 To end the show press Esc (keyboard)
 Keep presentations simple.
