WHAT IS CSR?

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a business approach tht contributes to sustainable development
by delivering economics, social and environmental benefits for all stake holders.
It is a self regulating business model that helps a company be socially accountable – to itself, its
stakeholders, and the public.

In India the CSR is mandatory for the companies.


In 2013, under the companies Act in sec.135 it is being added.
Under these it is mentioned that a company should spent 2% of their profit in CSR activities.
HINDUSTAN UNILEVER LIMITED (HUL)

 HUL is founded in the year 1933


 Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL) is the largest FMCG company in India.
 It’s headquarters are in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
 It is owned by the British-Dutch company “Unilever” and has about 52%
majority stake in Hindustan Unilever Limited.
 According to Futurescape, HUL ranks 19th in India for carrying out CSR
activities.
 Its products includes foods, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care
products.
 Hindustan Unilever Limited has over 35 brands spanning 20 districts categories.

 REACH : 6.4 million retail outlets
HUL CSR DETAILS

 HUL is committed to operate and grow its business in a socially responsible way. There
vision is to grow their business while reducing the environmental impact of their
operations and increasing their positive social impact.
 Main focus areas :
 1. Providing education on health and hygiene
 2. Women empowerment
 3. Water management
 4. Rehabilitation of special or underprivileged children
 5. Care for the destitute and HIV- positive
 6. Rural development

 PROJECT SHAKTI
 SANJEEVANI
 DOMEX TOILET ACADEMY
 ASHA DAAN & ANKUR

 SWACHH AADAT, SWACHH BHARAT
PROJECT SHAKTI

 Shakti started with 17 women in two states. Today it provides livelihood


enhancing opportunities to about 45,000 women in 15 Indian states and provides
access to quality products acrors 100,000+ villages and over 3 million households
every month
SANJEEVANI

 HUL runs a free mobile medical service camp- Sanjivani.


 The aims is to provide free mobile medical facility in their interior villages of
Assam. There are two mobile vans dedicated to the project, each vehicle has one
male and one female doctor, two nurses, a medical attendant (helper) and a driver.
DOMEX TOILET ACADEMY

 IN 2013, Domex, the leading toilet cleaner brand of Hindustan Unilever


Limited(HUL), announced the launch of Domex Toilet Academy(DTA) to mark
the occasion of World Toilet Day.(celebrated on 19th November every year)
ASHA DAAN & ANKUR

 Setting up homes and hostels for womens and orphans


 The initiative began in 1976, when HUL supported Mother Teresa and the
Missionaries of Charity to set up Asha Daan, a home in Mumbai for abandoned,
challenged children, the HIV-positive and the destitute.
ANKUR

 Ankur is a centre for special education for otherwisechallenged children at the


doom. Doom in Assam.
 It was set up in 1993 by HUL’S plantations Division at Doom.
PRABHAT

 Rural development projects


 Program which focuses on communities around our factories, The areas of
intervention are Health & Hygiene and also provides employment.
 The project aims to create a positive social impact in the lives of 1 million people.
HUL- CSR policy- Adopted by the board on 22nd September.
SWACHH ADAAT, SWACHH BHARAT

 IN 2015, Hindustan Uniliver Ltd. Lunched ‘swachh adaat, swachh bharat’


programme in line with GovernmenT of India’s swachh bharat abhiyan to
promote good health and hygiene practices.
 Given the scale of challenges that India faces in the areas of water, sanitation &
hygiene (WASH)
