A Transformer is a device for changing the voltage of


an alternating current (V a.c) . A simple transformer is
made of a laminated soft iron core which is wrapped
by two insulated coils, the primary coil and the
secondary coil.

Step - Up Transformer
This is a Step - Up Transformer
which function is to change low
votage to high voltage. The primary
voltage (input), Vp, across the
primary coil is lower than the
secondary voltage (output), Vs, across
the secondary coil.The number of
turns of th primary coil is less than
that in the secondary coil.

This is a Step - Down Transformer
which function is to change high
