CHILD AS SUBJECT OF EDUCATION SOMEONE NURTURED IN LOVE OVER TIME, made ready and disposed by nature for education for perfection by his/her parents and his/her teachers FAMILY From a Latin word that means TO KEEP AND PRESERVE in order to enhance the child potentials and endowments. HOME Which implies “WHERE THE WOUNDING ENDS AND THE HEALING BEGINS”, where a child finds rest, comfort, and assurance PARENTS Literally means ENTITIES THAT BRING FORTH OR BEGET: FATHER AND MOTHER MAN & WOMAN WOMAN, romantically linked to THE WOMB OF MAN, then referring to both the male and female of the species. They are LORD, THE GUARD OF THE BREAD, and LADY, THE KNEADER OF THE BREAD. MAN & WOMAN Women are the BRIDE, THE VESSEL OF LIFE, and MEN, THE BRIDEGROOM, THE CUSTODIAN OF THE VESSEL OF LIFE. Note: remove “bride” from bridegroom, and you have “groom”, SOMEONE WHO TAKES CARE OF THE HORSES. MAN & WOMAN Enter into CONJUGAL union, with YOKE on their necks to ensure that they go together in the same direction. They receive the sacrament of MATRIMONY, THE FRUIT OF THE MOTHER. MAN & WOMAN The CHILD is THEIR RESPONSIBILITY, the MAN & WOMAN who come together for life in total gift of self for the sake of the PROCREATION, TO CREATE WITH GOD, sustain and nourish, and the EDUCATION, TO DRAW OUT THE BEST, of the child. CONTEMPLATION OF REALITY OR STUDY OF TRUTH PUPIL Through grade school, the CHILD studies reality mainly through his/her SIGHT & HEARING. He/she is called PUPIL, TO GIVE THE IMAGE OF THE PUPILS OF THE EYE. STUDENT When the child grows a little older, he/she gets to be called STUDENT, SOMEONE WHO IS EAGER ABOUT THINGS. TEACHER In school, the child meets another set of educators, the TEACHERS, THOSE WHO SHOW HIM/HER REALITY AND TRUTH. COLLEGE After he/she finishes basic education, the CHILD enters COLLEGE, WITH CHOICE OR WITH DELIGHT, having chosen freely the preparation he/she needs for his/her career or PROFESSION, that through which he/she will BRING HIMSELF FORTH. Throughout the rest of his/her life, he/she SANCTIFIES, TO MAKE HOLY OR EXCELLENT, himself/herself, others, his/her professional work, and the family that he/she himself/herself may have the vocation to build. INSTRUCTION Through the STRUCTURED (hence INSTRUCTION, INTO A STRUCTURE) formative years of the CHILD, TEACHER is around, SHOWING HOW TO CONTEMPLATE THE TRUTH, SHOWING HOW TO LEARN TO CONTEMPLATE THE TRUTH, SHOWING THE INTELLECTUAL DISCIPLINE NECESSARY TO CONTEMPLATE AND HAVE A FIRM GRASP OF THE TRUTH, SHOWING BY EXAMPLE THE HUMAN QUALITIES IT TAKES TO LIVE ACCORDING TO THE TRUTH. THE WORK OF A TEACHER His/her FOCUS is the CHILD: THAT HE/SHE MAY GRADUALLY BUT SURELY REMOVE THE VEILS OF IGNORANCE AND WEAKNESSES SO THAT HE/SHE MAY HELP THE CHILD DRAW OUT THE MASTERPIECE OF HUMAN PERSONALITY THE CHILD IS DESTINED TO BECOME THROUGH AND THROUGH THE WORK OF A TEACHER The child starts INNOCENT. Slowly he/she begins knowing things, first in their most basic principles, then their immediate causes, then in their ultimate causes. In the end, the CHILD becomes a man/woman of CHARACTER, always struggling, sometimes falling but many times rising again. He/she becomes a person of wisdom and virtue, a good & upright man/woman. THE WORK OF A TEACHER His/her MISSION is to enable the CHILD’S intellect to understand the truth, each time more and more, and to enable the child’s will to love and choose the higher good, at all times. Thus, the teacher should work on the CHILD’S EXTERNAL & INTERNAL SENSES, that they may serve him/her well; and on his/her emotions and appetites, that he/she may be able to exercise full control over them towards his/her increasing maturity and human perfection. A TRUE STORY There are five men seeking admission into Heaven, four of them trying to be the first in line in a bid to be the first one called in. God is the presiding officer.
