Oracle eAM - Overview
• Oracle Enterprise Asset Management (eAM), providing organizations with the tools to create
and implement maintenance procedures for both assets and rebuildable inventory items.
• eAM enables users to optimally plan and schedule maintenance activities with minimal
disruption to an organization's operations or production. Importantly, it improves resource
efficiency, enhances maintenance quality, tracks work history, and records all maintenance
costs.
• Oracle eAM tracks the performance of assets (including rebuildable, inventory items) using
meters, quality plans, and condition monitoring systems.
• eAM eliminates the need for spreadsheets and disparate data repositories, by enabling
companies to manage reactive, planned, preventive maintenance, and adopt a centralized,
proactive strategy for managing asset maintenance across an enterprise.

eAM - Definitions
Assets – Equipment (Parent or Child) or a Floor in a Building.
Asset Groups – A way to group similar Assets together for sharing of Activities, Reporting and
other functions within eAM.
Activities – Are associated to an Asset/Asset Group and used in a PM. They will have operations
(instructions) that are required to be completed for a PM.
Resources – Techs (Maintenance, Facilities) or Machine Operators who may perform work on the
Assets.
Work Request - Request for maintenance on an asset. eAM enables operations and maintenance
staff to report any problems with an asset.
Work Orders – work orders are created for assets. They are defined manually, or generated
automatically based on a scheduled activity.
PM Schedules – Identify the PM Schedule for an Asset/Asset Group. This will include the Activities
and the frequency the activities need to be performed which will create WOs to support that.
