Steven Paul Jobs ( February 24, 1955 –
October 5, 2011) was an American
entrepreneur and business magnate. He
was the chairman, chief executive officer
(CEO), and a co-founder of Apple Inc.,
chairman and majority shareholder of
Pixar, a member of
The Walt Disney Company's board of
directors following its acquisition of
Pixar, and the founder, chairman, and
CEO of NeXT. Jobs is widely recognized
as a pioneer of the

Jobs Childhood
• Steven Paul Jobs was born to Abdulfattah Jandali and
Joanne Schieble, and was adopted by Paul Jobs and
Clara Hagopian.
• Ever since a young age, Jobs was exposed to the

world of mechanics.
EDUCATION
• Graduated from Homestead High School
in Cupertino, California, in 1972.
• Attended Hewlett-Packard lectures after
school.
• Worked with Steve Wozniak in summer.
• Attended Reed College after high school.
• Dropped out after one semester.
• Continued auditing courses in classes he
liked.
• Did part-time job at Atari to finance trip
to India for studying Eastern Culture and
Religion.
CAREER
• His first move professionally was that of a technician at Atari, Inc. in Los
Gatos, California, in 1973.
• Steve said he wanted to leave Apple to work on a more advanced computer,
and he would take the best engineers from the Mac team and start a new
company called NeXT.
• Steve went to Pixar. At the time, Pixar was making hardware and software.
But Steve decided to close the hardware business because it was not making
enough money. Pixar focused on their software that created 3D animation.
• Toy Story was the first computer-generated animated movie
Jobs, Wozniak, and
Ronald Wayne founded
Apple Computer (now called
Apple Inc.) in the garage of
Jobs's Los Altos home on Crist
Drive.
• Apple Computer, Inc. was established on April 1, 1976 by Jobs, Steve Wozniak, and

Ronald Wayne, to sell the Apple I personal computer kit.
• After losing a power struggle with the board of directors in 1984, Jobs resigned from
Apple and founded NeXT, a computer platform development company specializing in
the higher education and business markets.
• Apple's subsequent 1996 buyout of NeXT brought Jobs back to the company he co-
founded, and he served as CEO from 1997 until 2011.
• In 1986, Jobs acquired the computer graphics division of Lucasfilm, Ltd.
and renamed it Pixar Animation Studios.
• He remained CEO and majority shareholder at 50.1% until its acquisition
by The Walt Disney Company on May 5, 2006.

• Instead of running away, during his time away from Apple Jobs bought
the animation studio Pixar and started the computer company NeXT.
• The NEXT’s software also wasn’t widely adopted.
• In 1997, a struggling Apple bought NeXT and incorporated some of the
company’s technology into Apple products.
• The deal also brought Jobs back to the company, and he eventually took
over as CEO.
FAILURES
Apple III computer
• There were many issues with the Apple III.
• It had serious stability issues and the motherboard got hot fast, because Steve
thought the fan was too noisy and got rid of it.
Next Computer
• After his involuntary departure from Apple, Steve Jobs was keen to show the
world that he can build another computer company.
• NeXT computer experienced multiple delays of the launch and due to its high
price .

• In 2001, the company sortied
into the world of music with
the introduction of iPod,
iTunes digital music software
and iTunes Store.
• In 2007, he forayed into
cellular phone business with
the launch of iPhone.
• IPhone revolutionized the
way the world looked towards
a cellular device.
AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS
• During his life, he received several awards including National Medal of

Technology and Jefferson Award for Public Service.
• He was inducted into California Hall of Fame in 2007. Same year, he
was named the most powerful person in business by Fortune magazine.
• In 2009, Fortune magazine named him as the CEO of the decade.
Following year, he ranked at No 17 in Forbes list of The World's Most
Powerful People.
DEATH
• Steve Jobs died in Palo Alto on October 5, 2011, after battling pancreatic
cancer for nearly a decade.
• He was 56 years old.
