Introduction
• laptop, minicomputer or all-in-one computers share common parts

• Understanding these parts helps you make an informed purchase

• Laptops are for the user who prefers portability.

• The desktop is intended for a user who doesn't need a computer

• Components like (Motherboard, Central Processing Unit "CPU“

Video and Sound Cards, RAM "Memory", Optical Drive, Monitor
Case, Keyboard, Mouse "Touchpad").
Parts
 Case (Computer Housing)

 Central Processing Unit (CPU)

 Hard Disk

 Monitor

 Keyboard

• Computer Mouse
Case (Computer Housing)
• serves mainly as a way to physically mount and contain all of the
actual components inside of a computer

• like the motherboard, hard drive, optical drive, floppy disk drive, etc.

• They typically come bundled with a power supply.

Central Processing Unit (CPU)
• is the computer component that's responsible for interpreting and
executing most of the commands from the computer's other hardware and
software.

• INTEL and AMD are the two most popular CPU manufacturers of it

• You may see many different names used to describe the CPU

• including processor, computer processor, microprocessor

central processor and (the brains of the computer)
Hard Disk
• is the main and largest data storage hardware device in a computer.

• The operating system, software titles, and most other files are stored
in the hard disk drive.

• The HARD DRIVE is sometimes referred to as the "C drive"

due to the fact that Microsoft Windows designates
the "C drive " letter to the primary partition on the
primary hard drive in a computer.
Monitor
• is the piece of computer hardware that displays the video and
graphics information generated by the computer through the video
card.

• A monitor usually connects to an HDMI, DVI, or VGA port..

• For example, you don't want to buy a monitor that has

only an HDMI port when your computer is only
capable of accepting a VGA connection.
Keyboard
• is one of the primary input devices used with a computer that looks
similar to those found on electric typewriters, but with some
additional keys.

• Most desktop computer keyboards connect to the computer using

either USB or Bluetooth for wireless communication.

• Before USB, a computer may have used PS/2.

Computer Mouse
• Is a handheld hardware input device that controls a cursor in a GUI
and can move and select text, icons, files, and folders.

• The mouse was originally known as the X-Y Position Indicator

for a Display System.

• was invented by DOUGLAS ENGELBART in 1963.
