Making of the poster

Jamal ali.
Influences of other posters..
This is a typical
Release date magazine advert,
and has all the
image of codes and
artist. convection of it. Our
aim is to make our
Artist name magazine look a bit
like this one, simple
Album name and clear to the
audience. The
album is indie genre,
Reviews. which will also be
more influential upon
our magazine advert
Stage 1

We first made a new file,

and had to change the size
to 21 width and 29 height,
in order to get the right A4
measurements.
Stage 2
We then got an image
of him skating, since in
the video we show his
passion and love for
skating, we thought we
could link this with the
magazine advert,
making the products
all similar. Also the
image fits in with the
genre of indie by the
location and costumes,
so we decided to use
this image as our main
attraction on the
magazine advert.
Stage 3
The next step was to make the
picture black & white, as we found
out from research that most of
indie’s convections has the colour
black or white involved, weather it
is the video, poster or even
digipack, the colour black & white
is present. So to make the image
black & white, I had to click the
layer of the image, then turn the
colour tool to black and white.
After that I clicked on the option
‘image’ placed at the top and then
clicked on ‘adjustment’ and finally
clicked on ‘gradient tool’ where I
can pick the amount of black and
white effect I want.
Stage 4 We the had to create the font,
and from font research we found
out that most indie fonts are
bold, simple and large so its
easy for the audience to read the
colour is also usually black. So
we made our font big and bold,
but used the colour yellow
instead of black as we thought
yellow would stand out more and
be more appealing towards the
audience. So the font we chose
was borisblackbloxx, and the
size was 119.17pt. We only used
this type of font for the artist
name and we also used it for the
‘release date, but we made that
one smaller and in the colour
white so the audience can see it
and know when to buy the
album, and used a smaller font
for the album name.
Final poster..

As you can see this is the final

poster, and by following all the
stages above has led me to
create this simple poster
including an image of the artist,
the artist name and the release
date. So overall it was simple
and at the same time appealing
to the audience.
Changes made..
After making the poster and
showing it around the classroom
and to our teacher, we asked for
opinions, and majority of the
classroom said it was good but it
needed the album name, and a few
reviews to make it more buyable.
We then decided to take there
opinions in consideration and
included the album name ‘ my story’
as well as reviews from big music
companies such as ‘NME’. Once
completing the changes our poster
included most of the codes and
convections of a magazine advert
as it had the album name, artist
name, release date, image of artist
as well as reviews, so in the end we
kept it as our final indie magazine
advert.
