Differences:

1. Arabic language is written from right to


left

2. In America, people shake hands or even


hug, in other country they bow.

3. In the Philippines they kiss the hand of the


elders to show respect.
Intercultural
Communication:
– Refers to the effective communication between
people/workers clients of different cultural
background. It also includes managing thought
patterns and non-verbal communication.
• Interpersonal: the active negotiation of meaning
among individuals.
• Interpretive: the appropriate cultural interpretation
of meanings that occur in written and spoken form
with no recourse to negotiate the meaning with the
writer or speaker.
• Presentational: the creation of oral and written
messages that facilitates interpretation by members
of the other culture with no recourse to actively
negotiate the meaning between the two cultures.
Intercultural mode of
Communication
– is the verbal and nonverbal interaction between people
from different cultural backgrounds. Basically, 'inter-' is a
prefix that means 'between' and cultural means well, from
a culture, so intercultural communication is the
communication between cultures. Sometimes, this is used
to describe a single person trying to interact in a foreign
environment but more often, it is a two-way street, where
people from both cultures are trying to improve their
communication.

- North Americans view direct eye


contact as a sign of honesty while
Asians view direct eye contact as a
form of disrespect

- Raising your hand up means stop in


America or England. In some Asian
countries this gesture is used when
asking for permission to speak
