• CONCLUSION
INTRODUCTION
• Smart Home Technology generally refers to the term home
automation.it is nothing but the information and communication
technology in homes.
• We can operate the appliances from anywhere if we undergo this
smart technologies.
• There are different types of smart home technologies are trending
in the present generation.
• As the smart home technology leads to the work comfortable to
the people as they can reduce their work by having this smart
home technologies.
• Through this smart home technologies we can control our home
appliances, laptops tablets.
BASIC ARCHITECTURE OF HOME AUTOMATION

• User Interface: Devices that can give commands to

control a system such as a monitor or a phone. Device
sensor
Central
appliance controller

• Transmission Medium: Wireless (Bluetooth/GSM)

and Wired Connections (Ethernet).
• Control Centre: A hardware interface that Controlli
communicates with the user interface to control User

household services.
• Electronic Devices: Devices that are compatible
with the transmission mode and is connected to the BASIC BLOCK DIAGRAM FOR THE HOME

control center.
AUTOMATION
TYPES OF SMART HOME TECHNOLOGY
• There are three different types of home automation. They are
1.Power line home automation, 2. wired home automation, 3.wireless home
automation.
• The recent technologies mostly prefers the wireless home automation.

HOME AUTOMATION SYSTEMS

WIFI ANDROID
ZIGBEE CLOUD RASBERRY PI BLUETOOTH
BASED AND WIFI
DISCUSSION OF SOME TECHNOLOGIES
WIFI BASED HOME AUTOMATION:
• Wi-Fi based Home Automation System consists of three modules that are the
interface module, hardware, server and the software package.
• The server uses secure Wi-Fi Technology, and hardware interface module is used to
communicate with each other.
• CLOUD BASED:
• Cloud-based home appliance monitoring and controlling System.
Implementation and Design of a home gateway to gather information from
home appliances and send to the cloud-based knowledge server to store on
HDFS (Hadoop Distributed File System), process them using MapReduce and
use to produce a monitoring function to Remote user.
Home Automation System using Zigbee Protocol:
• Zigbee is a wireless technology developed by Zigbee alliance as an open global standard to address the
unique needs of low cost and power wireless sensor networks.

• This system has enticing options like SMS-Email notifications. And as Zigbee is raising network
technology, wireless communication standard is capable to satisfy such requirements.

BLUETOOTH BASED HOME AUTOMATION:

• It is considered as one of the best technologies to provide secure end to end communication between
devices with no complexities.

• These modules are based on several specifications based on which they perform the operations that are
related to it. One of its specifications is that, they work within a range of 45metres and will operate at
2.4GHz frequency. Using this we are designing a home automation system which works with the help of a
Bluetooth technology.
RASPBERRY PI BASED HOME AUTOMATION SYSTEM :
• Raspberry pi based home automation is healthier than various other home automation
strategies is many ways.

• For instance, in home automation through DTMF (dual tone multi-frequency), the
decision tariff is a vast disadvantage, which isn't the case in their projected technique.

• It is easy to learn and suitable for real world applications. There are two main types of
pi, first one is Model A has 25 6Mb RAM, one USB port and no network connection
and Model B has 5 12Mb RAM, 2 USB ports and an Ethernet port.
SMART HOME TECHNOLOGY-ADVANTAGES

• Managing all the home devices from one place.

• Flexibility for new devices and appliances.
• Maximizing home security.
• Increased energy efficiency.
• Remote control of home appliances.
• Improved appliance functionality.
• Home management insights, conveniently protect our home and belongings.
SMART HOME TECHNOLOGY-DISADVANTAGES

• The main disadvantage is the high cost of setting up a fully functional smart
home.
• As the system mostly connected to the internet and completely computer run
makes some security issues.
• Due to this internet connection the reliability is not constant all the time.
• Sedentary lifestyle which means as almost people are obese by having these
technologies leads to the laziness.
• Slight learning curve.
CONCLUSION
• A smart home contains connections between the wireless communication, sensors,
monitoring and tracking. The use of modern technology is adding to a safe
comfortable living environment for everybody. Smart home technology has
proved to contribute to increased independence and safety for the people. We
however gained some experience for the practical use of this technology. So in
future we may come across some more innovative form of the technologies
against the existing technologies to make them ease and accessible by everyone.
