war era
• Post civil era financial services evolved dramatically
• In 1933 Investment and commercial banking was separated through the GLASS-
STEAGALL ACT
• Early 20th century JP MORGAN, Brown Bros. & Co., etc dominated the market by an
oligopoly
• Growth of Investment Bank was a response due to demands for technological changes
and globalization
• After global financial crisis in 2008 gave rise to alternative financial institutions
