More Examples:

– A person can now expect to go through at least
three stages of active life, each stage lasting about
25 years (Handy, 2002: 187).

Referencing is tedious
It is very time consuming!
Difficult to get the format and all
the punctuation right all the time!
Tedious when you have to change
from one style to another
Fortunately we can use referencing
software to do it all for us.
The answer is – REFERENCING SOFTWARE!
e. g. EndNote
• Important point: Endnote – small ‘n’ - in Word is
not the same as EndNote – capital ‘N’.
• Endnote (MS Word)is a limited referencing feature of Word
• EndNote is a very powerful reference management system
built around a database of your references
(EndNote) referencing software
• If you start using ANY referencing software
now it will:
a) Make your work look much better
b) Improve the quality of your referencing
c) Save you days and days of tedious typing
d) Help you to develop a really valuable
resource (a library of reusable references)
What is EndNote?
• “EndNote is a bibliographic database program
designed to help you store, organise and
retrieve your references.
• It helps you to format your references
according to your chosen referencing style.
• You can also use EndNote with Word
to insert references as you write your
document.”

MS Word & “Cite while you write”
• When EndNote is installed, it automatically
links with Word via the Tools menu on the top
bar.
• It allows you to insert references (insert
selected citations) as you write
• It then formats the references at the end of
your document (format bibliography).
