Prošlo vreme glagola biti, was i were
-Was i Were su jedini oblici glagola ,,to be’’ (biti) u
prošlom vremenu.
Pozitivni oblici u prošlom vremenu glagola ,,to be’’ su:
I was - ja sam bio/bila You were - ti si bio/bila He was - on je bio She was - ona je bila It was - ono je bilo We were - mi smo bili You were - vi ste bili They were - oni su bili • Past Simple
1. It was awake all night. ( Bila sam budna celu noć)
- Ovde vidimo da imamo WAS i awake, dakle ‘’bila sam budna’’. U ovom slučaju je WAS pomoćni glagol, dok je awake – naš glavni glagol, odnosno predikat.
2. You were tall as a child. ( Bio si visok kao dete)
- Dakle, u ovom slučaju WERE je naš glavni glagol, zbog toga što nemamo drugog glagola u rečenici, a TALL je pridev koji opisuje dete.
3. He was happy a year ago.
4. She was home last night. (Bila je kod kuće sinoć)
5. It was sunny a week ago. (Bilo je sunčano pre sedam dana) 6. We were awake all night. (Bili smo budni celu noć) 7. You were invited to my party. (Bili smo pozvani na moju žurku) 8. They were home yesterday. (Juče smo bili kod kuće) Was i Were se mogu upotrebljavati kada je u pitanju ‘’Past Simple’’, ali takođe se mogu upotrebljavati i kada je u pitanju ‘’Past Continuous’’.
• Dakle, za razliku od Past Simple vremena,
Past Continuous - mora da sadrži u svojim rečenicama pomoćni glagol WAS ili WERE, pošto WAS ili WERE u ovom slučaju nama pružaju dodatne informacije o vremenu u kojem se nalazi naš glavni glagol, odnosno predikat. Pri tome, WAS se nalazi ispred glagola koji ima nastavak ‘’ing’’, kao što vidimo u našem prvom primeru ‘’was sleeping’’.. Imamo WAS i WERE nastavak ing.
- I was sleeping all night. (Spavala sam celu noć)
• You were walking fast. ( Brzo si hodao) • He was talking to her. (Pričao je s njom) • She was running a marathon. (Trčala je maraton) • It was raining a week ago. (Padala je kiša pre sedam dana) • We were watching movies all night. (Gledali smo filmove celu noć) • You were studying for the exam all day. (Ceo dan smo učili za ispit) • They were looking for her. (Tražili su je)
Dakle, u svim slučajevima su WAS ili WERE pomoćni glagoli, i
nakon njih ravno stoji glavni glagol koji ima nastavak ING. Upitni oblik:
Kad su u pitanju WAS ili WERE - uz pomoću njih možemo
da gradimo i pitanja. Tu se dešava inverzija subjekta i glagola.
- Was I the one who told you? (Da li sam ja koja ti je to
rekla?) WAS I WERE se nalaze na početnom mestu i rečenici, a nakon njih se nalazi subjekat i onda ostatak rečenice.
- Were you home last night. (Da li si bio kod kuće
sinoć?) - Was he there? (Da li je bio tu?) - Was she happy? (Da li je bila srećna?) - Was it snowing yesterday? (Da li je padao sneg juče?) - Were we invited? (Da li smo mi bili pozvani?) - Were you her friends? (Da li ste bili njeni prijatelji?) - Were they alone? (Da li su bili sami?) Odrični oblik • Odrični oblik za • WAS je WAS NOT, odnosno WASN’T • Was – was not (wasn’t) • WERE – WERE NOT, odnosno WEREN’T Were – were not (waren’t)
I wasn’t - Ja nisam sam bio/bila
You weren’t – ti nisi bio/bila He wasn’t – on nije bio She wasn’t – ona nije bila It wasn’t – ono nije bilo We weren’t – mi nismo bili You weren’t – vi niste bili They weren’t – oni nisu bili Primeri za odričan oblik: • I wasn’t up all night. ( Nisam bila budna celu noć) • - Dakle, isti je red reči u rečenicama, međutim wasn’t, weren’t su samo primeri rečenica koje su negativne, tj. Nešto što se nije dogodilo. • You weren’t tall as a child. ( Nisi bio visok kao dete) • He wasn’t happy a year ago. (Nije bio srećan prošle godine) • She wasn’t in love with him. (Nije bila zaljubljena u njega) • It wasn’t sunny a week ago. (Nije bilo sunčano pre sedam dana) • We weren’t awake all night. (Nismo bili budni celu noć) • You weren’t invited to my party. (Niste bili pozvani na moju žurku. • They weren’t home yesterday. (Juče nisu bili kod kuće)
