PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE

AHMAD IHZA MAHENDRA – 02

TPU IV B
DEFINITIVE

Preventive maintenance is maintenance and maintenance

activities carried out to prevent the occurrence of unexpected
and discovered damages that cause damage during
production. Thus, all production facilities that receive
maintenance (preventive maintenance) will be guaranteed
continuity and always be sought in conditions or conditions
that are ready to be used for every operation or production
process at any time.
Corrosion preventive maintenance 1. Maintenance of the basic finish
includes the following specific systems
functions: 2. Keeping drain holes free of
1. Adequate cleaning obstructions
2. Thorough periodic lubrication 3. Daily draining of fuel cell
3. Detailed inspection for sumps
corrosion and failure of 4. Daily wipe down of exposed
protective systems critical areas
4. Prompt treatment of corrosion 5. Sealing of aircraft against
and touch up of damaged paint water during foul weather and
areas proper ventilation on warm,
5. Accurate record keeping and sunny days
reporting of material or design 6. Replacing deteriorated or
deficiencies to the damaged gaskets and sealants
BENEFITS
• Minimize overhaul.
• Reducing the possibility of large-scale repairs.
• Reducing the cost of damage / engine replacement.
• Minimize the possibility of defective products.
• Minimize spare parts inventory.
• Minimize loss of salary - additional salary due to engine overhaul.
• Reducing the unit price of factory products.
TYPE OF PREVENTIVE MAINTENANCE
(IN COMPANY)

• Routine maintenance. Maintenance activities carried out

routinely. For example, cleaning of facilities or equipment,
lubrication or oil checking, checking the fuel content and
whether it is included in the warming up of the machines for
several minutes before being used operating throughout the
day.
• Periodic maintenance. Maintenance activities carried out
periodically or within a certain period.
PURPOSES
• Extend the productive life of an asset by detecting that an asset has a
critical wear point and may suffer damage.
• Carry out inspections effectively and keep the equipment in good health.
• Eliminating damage to equipment and defects in production and
increasing machine durability and process capability
• Reducing time wasted equipment damage by creating equipment
maintenance activities
• Keep production costs to a minimum.
PROCESS
• Record and manage data about maintenance, failure and use of
equipment (basic equipment analysis)
• All types of predictive activities. Including inspection, measuring,
inspection of parts for quality, analysis of lubricants, temperature,
vibration, noise, recording all data from predictive activities for trend
analysis
• Minor improvements (30 minutes), a big push towards productivity
• Writing up any conditions that require special attention, which has the
potential to lead to failure
• Scheduling and implementing the instructed repairs
• Use the frequency and severity of failures to increase the PM task list
• Training and upgrading of PM system capabilities.
