Complete the chart. Do affirmative statements first,


then think about negatives.

We use be going to:


1. To talk about the future when plans were made before this
moment.
I am going to start a new job next week.
2. To make strong predictions about the future based on
current information.
They ate too much candy. They’re going to get sick!
In informal speech, going to is often pronounced “gonna.”

Don’t forget that are not can be contracted as either aren’t or


’re not, and is not can be either isn’t or ’s not.

When who or what is the subject of an information question,


don’t use a subject pronoun after be.
