philosopher Adam Smith published
“Wealth of Nations”.

• Accepted the concept that the earth is
round and calculated its circumference
to within 0.5 percent accuracy

world and divided the earth into five
climatic regions

• His parents allowed him to study
linguistic in 1876 (Leipzig)
• Saussure is known as the Father of
Modern Linguistic because of his work
with Indo- European languages between
1881 and 1891.
• Published “Memoire sur le systeme
primitif des voyelles dans les langues
indo- europeenes”.

• HISTORICAL FOUNDATION
– Linguistic as a social science began at the
beginning of the 19th century.
– Beginning around the 6th century BCE, linguistic
began to be studied systematically by the Indian
Scholar Panini, who is generally regarded as the
“father of linguistic”.
– Modern linguistic began to develop in the 18th
century.

– Contemporary political science traces its roots
primarily to the 19th century.
– The theoretical and practical study of the state
and the politics began way back to the time of the
Ancient Greeks, about 500-300 B.C

Psychology at the University of Leipzig
in Germany in 1879
• The first person ever to call himself a
Psychologist
• He is widely regarded as the father of

Psychology”.

– It has its roots in Ancient Greek Philosophy such as
epistemology, metaphysics, religion and oriental

– Psychology was a branch of the domain of

behavior dates back to the ancient civilizations of
Egypt, Persia, Greece, China and India.
