TYPES OF MOTIVATION
• Intrinsic and extrinsic motivation are the two broad types of
motivation. Intrinsic motivation occurs when people are motivated by
internal rewards like self-improvement. Extrinsic motivation represents
people driven by external rewards like money or praise. However, there
are many specific types of intrinsic and extrinsic drivers that motivate
people differently, such as achievement or fear.
Explanation:
Intrinsic is when a student use her goal as motivation. S/he is dedicated to her work and feel
satisfaction when receiving success within him/herself while Extrinsic on the other hand, is
when a student worked hard and striving for success not for him/herself, but for the reward
that’s awaiting.
TYPES OF MOTIVATION
• While there are many things that motivate people, you can break
down motivation into two broad types – intrinsic motivation and
extrinsic motivation. Intrinsic motivation represents all the
internal motivational drivers like self-actualization or helping a
friend in need. Extrinsic motivation represents all the external
motivational drivers like doing something for a raise or reward.
Explanation:
There are two types of motivation in accomplishing a task. Their purpose is the same,
to motivate but their meaning is different. Intrinsic motivation is motivation for the
self while extrinsic is for a reward.
TYPES OF MOTIVATION

1. INTRINSIC MOTIVATION
Intrinsic motivation represents all the things that motivate you based on internal
rewards. For example, you may be motivated to get a promotion because of self-
improvement or the joy of learning. Conversely, you might be motivated to succeed
because you want to positively affect the lives of the people around you.
Explanation:
Intrinsic motivation is when a student or person, works hard to accomplish a work or task that they are really dedicated to
do. It’s their passion and willingly do the task and when done, they feel satisfaction they’ve been craving or wanting to. Like
when a student makes a project, and the concept is one of her passion, then she strives for it, work hard for it. So in the
end, she will be satisfied in all the effort she made.
TYPES OF MOTIVATION

2. EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION
Extrinsic motivation represents all the things that motivate you based on external rewards.
These types of motivation are more common than intrinsic motivators and include
achieving things due to a specific incentive, fear, or expectation, all of which depend on
external factors. For example, people want to get a promotion because of the expected
raise.
Explanation:
Extrinsic motivation is very common nowadays. When a parent tells it’s daughter/son, “If you get a high grade, we will
buy you a new cellphone.” You can see that after this, the child will study hard. The child studies hard not because he/she
wants to but for the reward that he/she can get.
