•It refers to an object with


three dimensions- height,
width, and depth.

•It refers to the distance or
area- between, around,
above, and below- within

TEXTURE
• It is the surface quality of an object. It is
perceived through two sense- tough and sight.
• Three kinds of texture:
1.TACTILE TEXTILE- real textures which you
can touch and feel.
2.ARTIFICIAL TEXTURE- human-made surface
quality that is supposed to look and feel like
some material
3.VISUAL TEXTURE- textures evoked by a

1. BALANCE
•It is the placement of all the
elements of the composition so
that their visual weights seem
evenly distributed.
•It is the quality which makes
the composition of the artwork
• 3 kinds of balance:
1.FORMAL BALANCE OR SYMMETRICAL BALANCE- a
type of balance in which the contents on either side
of a center line are exactly the same. One side would
mirror the other.
2.INFORMALBALANCE OR ASYMMETRICAL BALANCE- a
type of balance in which the two sides of an artwork
are not exactly alike, yet still appears pleasantly
even.
3.RADIAL BALANCE- when all the elements in the
composition radiate outward from the center or
toward it.

• The principle of art concerned with
making an element or object in a work

3. HARMONY
• The principle of art concerned with combining
related art element to create a pleasing
appearance. The parts of the composition

4. PROPORTION
• It deals with the proper relation between two
objects or parts. The parts of a work should
relate to the other parts, as well as to the
entire composition.

5. UNITY
• It is the arrangement of the elements to create
a feeling of oneness. When the parts of a work
come together, the work has unity. Each part
fits in with the others to create a single idea,
quality, or a whole design.

• The principle of art concerned with
combining different art elements like
colors, lines, shapes, and textures to
increase visual interest.

6. RHYTHM
• It is the regular repetition of lines, shapes, colors, and other art elements in
the same or similar ways to suggest flowing movement. The repetition of
any art element over and over to forms a pattern. Rhythmic patterns can be
achieved by repetition, alternation, or progression.

7. MOVEMENT
• It is the principle of art used to create the
look and feel of action, and to guide the
viewer’s eyes throughout a work of art.
Artists create movement through careful
blending of elements such as line and
shape.

• Refers to the distinguishing


characteristics of an artwork.
SUBJECT

• It is the term used for whatever is


represented in the artwork. “what it is all
about?”
CONTENT

• It includes the ideas and feelings


presented in the work of art. It
communicates an idea, feeling, or mood
to the viewer.
COMPOSITION

• It is the arrangement of the elements of


art to create a unified whole. It shows
how the different elements complement
each other and make it pleasing to the
viewers.
MEDIUM

• It is the material which the artist uses for


his or her art
PROCESS

• It is procedure taken to do an artwork. It


tells how the artist used various media
and materials in creating the artwork.
SYMBOL

• Something that stands for an object or


idea.
