STATION 3
WHAT?
• Before what is now known as the PNR,
PNR only came after different changes.
Originally it was the Ferrocaril de Manila a
Dagupan, Manila Railway Company Ltd. of
London or Manila Railroad Company,
established during the Spanish
colonization. Then from Ferrocaril de
Manila, it became Manila Railroad Co.
(MRRCo) which was during the American
colonial rule.
WHO?
• It was the Spanish who started the
concept of railroads here in the
Philippines. In fact, the first railroad which
is Ferrocaril de Manila was inaugurated
nearly two decades after King Alfonso XII
of Spain issued a decree for the
establishment of a railroad system in
Luzon. After that, it was the Americans
who were behind the Manila Railroad Co.
WHEN?
• On June 25, 1875, beneath a royal
proclaim issued by King Alfonso XII of
Spain, the desired Inspector of Public
Works of the Philippine Islands was asked
to yield a railway framework arrange for
Luzon.
WHERE?
• Basically, Philippine National Railways
was established here in the Philippine.
Where King Alfonso XII required Inspector
of Public Works of the Philippine Islands
requested to submit a railway system plan
for Luzon.
WHY?
• Before the railroads were built, the
transportation is not that fast compared to
the time when the railroads exist. The role
of PNR is to provide mobility in transport
system at minimum passenger and freight
prices possible and according to the PNR's
mission.
WHY?
• The PNR shall provide safe, reliable and
affordable railway services as a socio-
economic development tool within the
framework of the national infrastructure
system, while ensuring sustainable
operations so that optimum service can be
rendered at a minimum passenger and
freight prices.
STATION 4
CONCLUSION
• Physically we can see the
inconvenience of the train, but
people have no choice since it is
fastest way to get in to those specific
places. Those negative sides allows
us to think that PNR have lack of
support from the government and
poor management.
STATION 5
RECOMMENDATION
• For future development, our group thinks
that future may be more on technology
and it may have an upgraded invention of
trains that will help the commuters to get
to the places they want to go. Without
traffic, without hassle they will just sit
down and relax until they reach their
destination. It will be like a train that can
drive along the main roads of the cities.
