Sua Ku Sua

Sua Ku Sua is a courtship dance from the Sulu Archipelago between Borneo and Mindanao that originated in Jolo, Sulu. The dance likens a woman's beauty and grace to the pomelo tree, which has fragrant flowers, slender branches, and beautiful fruit. It is performed by one or more dancers, usually male and female, who decorate themselves with white face powder, fans, and intensified facial hair to honor the pomelo tree and symbolize the bond between the Tausug people and the fruit.
