GLOBALIZATION

- Used to describe the growing interdependence


of the world’s economies, cultures, and
populations, brought about by cross-border trade
in goods and services, technology, and flows of
investment, people, and information.

INTERSTATE

- connecting, or existing between two or


more states especially of the U.S.
TREATY OF WESTPHALIA

-Treaty of Westphalia is a set of agreements signed in


1648 to end the Thirty Years’ War between the major
continental powers of Europe. It was designed to avert wars in
the future by recognizing that the treaty signers exercise
complete control over their domestic affairs and swear not to
meddle in each other’s affairs and provide stability for the
nations of Europe.
INTERNATIONALISM

INTERNATIONALISM

-desire for greater cooperation and unity among


states and people. This can be divided into two broad
categories: liberal internationalism and socialist
internationalism.
LIBERAL INTERNATIONALSISM
 LIBERAL INTERNATIONALISM

is a set of related concepts on how to best organize


international relations between states and non-state actors
that emphasizes a belief in international progress,
interdependence, cooperation, diplomacy, multilateralism, and
support for international political structures and organizations.
SOCIALIST INTERNATIONALISM

SOCIALIST INTERNATIONALISM
The Socialist Internationalism (SI) is a worldwide
organisation of political parties which seek to
establish democratic socialism.
NATION

According to Benedict Anderson, nation is an


“imagined community” and does not go beyond a given
“official boundary”. It is inherently limited and
sovereign. It has boundaries, meaning not anyone can
be a Filipino. - this refers to large group of people who
share common characteristics such as language,
traditions and ethnicity.
STATE

State, in layman’s terms, refers to a country and its


government.- a community of persons more or less numerous
occupying a definite territory completely free of external
control and possessing an organized government to which the
great body of inhabitants render habitual obedience.
ATTRIBUTES OF TODAY’S GLOBAL SYSTEM

The attributes of Today’s Global System


1. Countries or states are independent and govern
themselves;
2. These countries interact with each other through diplomacy;
3. International organizations facilitate these interaction (i.e.
UN); and
4. International organizations also take on lives of their own.
Associations of South East Asia Nation
 is a regional intergovernmental
organization comprising ten countries
in Southeast Asia, which
promotes intergovernmental cooperation and
facilitates economic, political, security, military,
 educational, and sociocultural integration
among its members and other countries in Asia.
ASEAN
 ASEAN's purpose is to form a common market
similar to the European Union. The ASEAN
Economic Community was established in 2015.
It is working toward free movement of goods
and services, investment and capital, as well
as skilled labor.
APEC

 Asia-Pacific Economic
Cooperation (APEC) is an inter-
governmental forum for 21 Pacific
Rim member economies that
promotes free trade throughout the Asia-
Pacific region.
