Priya Screenlees Display

The document discusses screenless display technology, which allows information to be displayed without a physical screen. It outlines different types of screenless displays like visual images using holograms, retinal displays that project images directly onto the retina, and future synaptic interfaces that may transmit signals directly to the brain. Applications include special mobile phones for blind users, screenless laptops and TVs. Advantages are listed as 3D capability, portability and low power usage, while challenges include current high costs and limited availability of prototypes.

SCREENLESS DISPLAY
TECHNOLOGY

OUTLINE

 INTRODUCTION
 SCREENLESS DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY
 TYPES
 APPLICATIONS
 ADVANTAGES
 DISADVANTAGES
 CONCLUSIONS
INTRODUCTION

 Technology is making huge modifications in existing machines or tools in

order to solve problem at higher level and make life comfortable.

 Screenless display is one of the most recent interesting subjects in

technology and research field.

 Screenless display is a system of transferring information/data though an

electronic video source without using screen.

 Screenless display is the present evolving technology in the field of the

computer-enhanced technologies.
INTRODUCTION (CONTD…)

 Several patents are working on new emerging technology which change

the whole spectacular view of the screenless displays.

 Screenless display technology has the main aim of displaying or

transmitting the information without any help of the screen or the
projector.

 Screenless displays have become a new rage of development for the next
generation.
BASIC DISPLAY OF SCREENLESS
DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY
SCREENLESS DISPLAY TECHNOLOGY

 The first screen-less display that needs mentioning is Google Glass.

 Google Glass sits on the face like a pair of glasses, and on one eye it has a
block of glass that allows you to see augmented reality.

 Images can be displayed right in front of your eye, as well as text and
information about objects and places around yourselves.
TYPES OF SCREENLESS DISPLAY
VISUAL IMAGE
 Visual Image screen less display includes any screen less image that an
eye can perceive.
 The display works on the principle that, light gets reflected by the
intermediate object before reaching the retina.
 The intermediate object can be holograms, windows, or even LCDs.
 The display of visual image is shown below:
VISUAL IMAGE (CONTD...)

 The common example of Visual Image screen less display is a hologram.

 Holograms are used in telecommunication as an alternative to screens.

 Holograms could be transferred directly, or they could be stored in

various storage devices such as holodiscs.

 Hologram provide high quality images and videos and the image can be
viewed by human eye that is does not need any special observation device
WORKING OF HOLOGRAM
 Holographs can work by using a laser beam that can interfere with an
object beam. When these two beams get in the way of one another, they
can create what looks like a three dimensional image. This image can then
be recorded for processing by recording the diffraction of the light and the
way in which the beams interfere with one another.
PRODUCTS OF VISUAL SCREEN

Display air touch system:

 It works by projecting laser beam into humid air molecules.

 We have to move our hands over the humid air where the display is
present to provide the inputs.

 Its applications are found in various advanced video gaming

technologies.
RETINAL DISPLAY

 Virtual retinal display systems are a class of screen less displays in which
images are projected directly onto the retina .

 Virtual retinal display are distinguished from visual image systems

because light is not reflected from some intermediate object onto the
retina; it is instead projected directly onto the retina.

 The user sees what appears to be a conventional display floating in space

in front of them.

 Retinal Direct systems promise extreme privacy as in this system, light is

directed only into the pupils of their intended viewer.

HOW VISION WORKS

 We can see things because of reflected light. Light bounces of an object

and enters our eye. This light then focuses on the retina to form an image.
RETINAL PROJECTION

 In retinal projection , the light does not have to be reflected off an object.
The light is projected directly onto the retina to form an image.

PRODUCT USING RETINAL DISPLAY
OCULUS VR RIFT :
OCULUS VR RIFT (CONTD…)

 The Oculus Rift is a virtual reality head-mounted

display developed by Oculus VR. The Rift uses an
organic light emitting diode (OLED) panel for each
eye, each having a resolution of 1080x1200.

 It uses a OLED display to eliminate motion blur and

judder, two of the biggest contributors to simulator
sickness.

 Low persistence makes the scene appear visually

stable.

 Oculus VR is still in Prototype Stage.

OCULUS VR RIFT (CONTD…)

 It is used for playing immersive games.

 We can play games in 360 degree Head Tracking.

 The Oculus Rift creates a stereoscopic 3D view with excellent depth and
scale.

 Oculus Rift provides an approximately 110 degree field of view.

 Oculus is including Oculus Cinema as a free application , which will

allow the Rift to be used to view conventional movies and videos from
inside a virtual cinema environment, giving the user the perception of
viewing the content on a cinema sized screen.
SYNAPTIC INTERFACE
 Synaptic Interface is a type of Screenless display that does not use light at
all.
 It is a type of screenless display that does not display an image in free
media or onto the retina.
 It displays by transmitting the signals directly into the brain through the
optic nerve without using any light.
 Visual Image and information completely bypasses the eye and is
Transmitted directly to the brain.
 This technology was tested on horse shoe crabs.
 Success has been achieved in sampling video signals from the biological
eyes of a living horse shoe crab through their optic nerves.
 In sending video signals from device to creatures brain are transmitted
using brain computer interface.
DISPLAY OF SYNAPTIC INTERFACE
APPLICATIONS OF THE SCREENLESS
DISPLAY

 Special kind of mobile phones were developed mainly for old and blind
people using this technology. This type of the invention of the screenless
displays was first done on the mobile phone named OWASYS 2CC.
 Screenless display technology is implemented for the development of the
screen less laptops.
 Screenless displays are also widely applicable in the field of the
holograms projection.
 Latest laser technology are implementing the special technique of the
screen less display through the presence of the several 3D scope
animation.
 Screenless display’s major working principle can be implemented in the
emerging of the new screen less TV’s.
ADVANTAGES OF SCREENLESS DISPLAY

 3D images are possible.

 Ability to present far point images.

 High quality and large angle of view.

 Light weight and hence greater portability.

 Low power requirement

 Low costs
DISADVANTAGES OF SCREENLESS
DISPLAY

 The principle disadvantage is that virtual retinal display (VRD) is not yet
available in the significant number.

 Prototypes and special experimental models are now being built, but their
cost per unit is high.

 The VRD technology is still under progress and development.

CONCLUSION

 The future technologies makes our life even better for the development of
mankind in all aspects of life.

 We should effectively apply these technologies in reasonable situations

and make life easier.

 Physically and Mentally challenged people also have to be equipped with

latest technologies, to enable them to live a peaceful life.
