1. Principle of Clarity
The message should be precise and clear in
meaning. It should be easy to understand.

2. Principle of Attention
Effective communication requires an attentive
reciever. The receiver’s attention should be drawn
towards message.
3. Principle of Consistency
Communication should be consistent with the
plan, objectives, policies and programs. Inconsistent
message create chaos and confusion.

4. Principle of Adequacy

Lack of Adequacy may cause misinterpretations that

itself.” This aims to incorporate the idea of
commonness and cooperation to both sender and
reciever of the message.
6. Principle of Timeliness
Importance of the value of time as it affects
relevance and effectiveness of a message in a given
situation.
7. Principle of Informality
Transmitting message depends to a person we are
talking to and to the location where communication
takes place.

8. Principle of Feedback
There should be a feedback information from the
recipient to know whether he has understood the
message in the same sense in which the sender has
meant it.
9. Principle of Economy

According to Alberts et al. (2007), there are 6
basic elements of communication: the setting,
participants, message creation, channels, noise
and feedback to explain how communication unfolds.

According to Bovee & Thill 1992 & 1998 ; Burnett

& Dollar 1989; Gibson & Hodgetts (1990) put this as
an order: sender-reciever, message, channel,
noise, feedback and setting.
Sender/ reciever
• Both are participant of communication process. A
sender initiates the conversation by transmitting
ideas.

Sender- initiates the communication by

transmitting ideas
Reciever - the one whom is the sender is
communicating with
Message

through verbal and non verbal

Channels

• External Noise- comes from the environment or to a

place around us

• Internal Noise- refers to the noise in the minds of an

individual
Feedback
• A response or reaction conveyed by the reciever. It
is considered as new message.
• It is very important element in communication to
know how effetive and successful the
communication is.
