Project 0TH Review Batch 1 Ece C

This document describes a proposed firefighting robot that uses Arduino. The robot would use flame and smoke sensors to detect fires in hazardous areas like nuclear plants. If a fire is detected, the microcontroller would activate a water pump mechanism to extinguish the flames. The objectives are to detect fires in dangerous places, provide alerts to unaware people, and reduce risks to human firefighters. It surveys similar existing robots and identifies the need for a robot that can autonomously explore hazardous burning structures. The proposed solution is to build a robot with temperature, flame and smoke sensors controlled by an Arduino board to remotely extinguish fires without endangering human lives.

 INTRODUCTION

 PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
 PROPOSED SOLUTION
INTRODUCTION

 Aims to develop an Arduino based fire fighting robot.

 It monitors the areas where natural calamities and bomb explosion

occurs.

 It senses fire, smoke and temperature at the site of disaster by

using flame and smoke sensors mounted on it.

 If fire is detected with the help of sensors, the Microcontroller Unit

operates water pump mechanism.
OBJECTIVES

To detect the fire in disaster prone areas especially in hazardous environments
such as in nuclear power plant, petroleum refineries and gas tanks
 To provide Audio and Visual indications about fire accident for the people who
are not aware of the accident in the same area
To work like a Fire Extinguisher
To reduce the efforts of human labor and level of destruction
LITERATURE SURVEY
 Wireless fire fighting robot is developed by “Swati Deshmukh” et al. It comprises of
machine which has ability to detect fire and extinguish it. The fire fighting robot can
move in both forward and reverse direction and can turned in left and right directions.
Thus fire fighter can operate the robot over a long distance and there is no need for
human near the area on fire.

 Author “SaravananP” has designed and developed an Integrated Semi-Autonomous Fire

Fighting Mobile robot. The System controls four D.C. motors powered by Atmega2560
and controlled autonomously by navigation system. Navigation system comprises of
integrated ultrasonic sensors and infrared sensors. The robot is fitted with wireless
camera which captures the video and transmits it to the base station.
PROBLEM IDENTIFICATION
 A fire fighter must be able to stop fire quickly and safely extinguish the fire,
preventing the property from damage and rescue the victims to a safer
location from the hazard.

 As it is difficult for the fire fighters to move autonomously around the

hazardous areas, and also in certain types of incidents where the
environment will be very dangerous for the humans such as the hazardous
materials explosion, the radioactivity or the propane tank which can explode,
in that situation, this robots can save lives of many people.

 Particularly, if fire occurs in narrow and restricted places, as it is necessary

to explore the ruins of buildings and obstacles to extinguish the fire and save
the victim.
PROPOSED SOLUTION

 Developing a firefighting robot that can extinguish fire without the need for
fire fighters to be exposed to unnecessary danger.

 By using a simple Micro Controller Unit (Arduino Uno) along with some
sensors and servo motor, we can design a Fire Fighting Robot which can
indeed save many lives especially in hazardous environments such as in
nuclear power plant, petroleum refineries and gas tanks.

 The designed Robot continuously monitors variation of temperature in the

surrounding area, if the temperature exceed a limit value or if the MCU
detects flame and smoke, then the water pump is operated.

 Audio and Visual (if needed) indications are attached to the robotic system.
