Building Problems

• Reinforced concrete is an excellent composite structure for use in building construction.

• The superiority of the concrete is its high compressive strength, while the reinforcing steel is
excellent for withstanding tensile and shear forces.
• The disadvantage is that cracks in reinforced concrete can arise during pre-construction and post-
construction. Caused by several things, because of the influence of the nature of the concrete itself
and the external environment factors that affect the concrete directly. (characters of concrete
(shrinkage), temperature, corrosion of reinforcement, etc).

Plastik

 Plastic is a unique and special polymer. It is a large molecule adjoin in length.

Thermoplastic Thermoset
Used in daily
activity

when it is hardened it can not be reused

can be formed easily
ex: electric lights, electric plugs

easily processed into other forms

Ex : Polivinil Klorida (PVC): water

pipe, food wrap, shoe sole;
Polietilena (PE): Plastic bottles,
toys, buckets, etc
Reasons for Recycle Plastic to Be an
Infrastructure Alternative for the Future

 Plastic is also much more resistant to exposure to chemicals than ordinary brick or
asphalt.

 Treatment of plastics is easier and cheaper.

EXAMPLE OF 1st STUDY
(Plastic Concrete)

Utilization of recycled plastic bag waste is used to substitute rough aggregate

materials on plastic concrete (Betik).

Next Study The basic materials of cement, sand, and plastic aggregates are
applied in paving block.

Utilization of waste plastic bags from food wrappers, laundry soap wrap, plastic bags (bag
crackle), bags of toys and so forth, recycled into clinker with a diameter of 1 cm to 2 cm is
used instead of rough agrgegat materials (stone ) on a mixture of concrete

EXAMPLE OF 4th STUDY
Plastic for Wall Tail

 The increasing building material prices, a young man from Kodungallur,

in India, discovered how to make floor tiles from plastic waste
 This type of tile is seen to have many advantages over conventional
cement tiles. Some of the advantages are that plastic tiles are relatively
inexpensive, require less time to produce and are relatively lighter when
compared to cement tiles.
 Recycled plastic decorative wall panel 3d printing.
EXAMPLE OF 5th STUDY
Plastic Lumber

 structural plastic lumber is an alternative to treated wood and is ideal for heavy
commercial infrastructure projects such as bridges, marine applications, boardwalks,
docks, piers and fendering systems.

 Structural plastic lumber comes in multiple surface options and is typically made from
recycled polyethylene.
Advantage

 Up to 50 year limited warranty

 Waterproof
 Resistant with insect, salt, mold, and corrosives
 Non-Break
 Maintenance free – no painting
 Up to 100% recycled
 Long-term aesthetics
 Recyclable
 -4.5 degrees Celsius to 80 degrees Celsius (maximum the difference in air
temperature on the outer, middle and inner layers concrete is 40 degrees Celsius
> Crack. And difference air in the outside layer and environment is 20 degress
celcius).
Disadvantage

 Chemical dangers are also high, because both creation and recycling of plastic produce
toxic materials of many kinds.

 Chemicals such as ‘phthalates’ is widely used as an additive that prevents degrading of

plastic structure, but they also interfere with our natural hormone levels which can cause
serious problems to both males and females. Phthalates is chemicals that can make
plastics soft and flexible. (medicine, food warpps, and PVC).
Conclution

 Being an alternative to recycle plastic waste into commodities cheap, safe, good and
easy to build by the people.
