ANTIBACTERIAL ASSAY OF ANTIBIOTICS
ON STAPHYLOCOCCUS AUREUS FROM
INCOMPLETE ANTIBIOTIC-COURSE
TAKERS
DURATION OF THE STUDY

Approximately 2 months;
including the culture of
bacteria samples to be
acquired from incomplete
antibiotic-course takers.
3
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
Generally, this study aims to conduct an antibacterial assay of antibiotics on
Staphylococcus aureus acquired from incomplete antibiotic-course takers.

SPECIFIC
OBJECTIVES
1. Is there a significant difference in the mean
zones of inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus
using varying concentrations of Penicillin?
2. Is there a significant difference in the mean
zones of inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus
using varying concentrations of Vancomycin ?
3. Is there a significant difference in the mean
zones of inhibition of Staphylococcus aureus
using varying concentrations of Mupirocin? 4
EXPECTED OUTPUT
• Obtain valuable data on the
mean zones of inhibition to
their respective antibiotic
• Determine if there is a causal-
relationship that exists
between incomplete
consumption of antibiotics and
antibiotic resistance.
• Provide knowledge that will aid
non-government organizations
and government bodies in
research.

5
BACKGROUND OF
THE STUDY
• S. aureus is a major
pathogen
• Causative agent in a wide
variety of medicinal
manifestations
• Found in 20-30% of all
humans (up to 80% in
certain populations)
• Infection is rampant due to
MRSA strains
6
SIGNIFICANCE OF
THE STUDY
• One of the most common
bacteria
• Responsible for a wide
range of human infections
• Proponents hope to
provide help to
communities all over the
world
• Aid in research globally

countries.

8
SCOPE AND
DELIMITATIONS
• The bacteria strain shall be
swabbed from various patients
in hospitals found in the
locality of Iloilo
• The bacteria will be cultured
and conducted in the
microbiological laboratory in
West Visayas State University
under the supervision of a
registered microbiologist.
• One-Way ANOVA will be used
as the statistical tool.
