Overview about Google Search
• People instantly recognize ‘Google Search’ more than
‘Search Engine’.
• Google is used for over 3.52 billion searches a day
and more than 1.2 trillion searches per year around
the world.
• Here are a few effective tips and tricks to be a Google
power user

Exact phrase search

• If you are searching for exact phrases on Google, use


double quotes. For example: "top ten android apps".
• Google doesn’t recognize casing, so you don’t have to
capitalize your search phrases.

Domain search
 If you wish to search a particular website, you can
avoid the hassle of combing the site and simply type
‘site:’ followed by the website name on Google’s
search bar.
 For example, “site: techrepublic.com cloud
computing”, which gives all the results relating to the
topic from the particular domain.

Text-specific search
 You can search for terms in text by typing ‘allintext:’
before your search phrase.
 For example, “allintext: best Christmas deals” will
result in websites with text in the particular phrase.
 Also, the ‘intext:’ command will find pages with a term
in text and other phrases will be available elsewhere in
the document.
 For example, “neymar intext:barcelona”

Words in URLs search

• Use ‘allinurl:’ command to search for words in a


particular URL.
• For example, “allinurl: baked recipes” will give you
links containing the specified words.

Location-specific news search

 You can search for news, celebrities, events and more


happening in a particular area with ‘location:’
 For example, type “music concert location: new york”
and the search results will range from happening music
events to the upcoming shows.

File-specific search

• If you are looking for reference URLs for a specific file


type, the ‘filetype:suffix’ search command helps narrow
down the search results.
• For example, “world economics report filetype:pdf”
gives you front-page results with only the pdf documents
