Types of Graphs

Graphs are visual representations used to show patterns and relationships in data. There are several types of graphs including tables, bar graphs, and circle graphs. Tables organize extensive numerical data in a clear format. Bar graphs compare data with one or two independent variables to easily show differences between groups. Circle graphs, also called pie charts, show categorical data proportionally with wedge-shaped slices. All of these graph types effectively present complex data in a space-saving, easy-to-understand visual format.

Types of Graphs

What are Graphs and

Types of it?

- Graphs are visual representations. They are used

to organize information to show patterns and
relationships. A graph shows this information by
representing it as a shape. Researchers and
scientists often use tables and graphs to report
findings from their research.

What is a Data Table?
Tables are often used for reporting extensive
numerical data in an organized manner. They
should be self-explanatory. Number the tables
in the order in which they are cited in the text.
Tables and figures are great tools to present
sizeable amounts of complex data in a space-
saving, easy-to-understand way.
What is the Purpose Data Table?

The purpose of tables are present numbers for

comparison with other numbers or summarize
or define concepts, terms, or other details of a
study.
How to formulate a good Data Table?
1. Name your table. Write a title at the top of your paper. Make sure the title
relates to the data you will put in your table.
2. Figure out how many columns and rows you need.
3. Make the necessary number of columns and rows. Don't forget to leave
the top row blank. This is where you will label your columns.
4. Label all your columns. The leftmost column should be reserved for your
independent variable. For example, if you're researching how much rain fell
in the past year, your independent variable would be the months of the year.
Thus, your leftmost column would be labeled "Month" and the next column
would be labeled "Rainfall."
5. Record the data from your experiment or research in the appropriate
columns. You want the information in your table to be clear and obvious to
anyone who sees it. When you're finished there should be a number in every
space. If there is an average or derived result from your data, that number
should be recorded in the rightmost column.
6. Check your table. Look over your work to make sure everything is correct
and clear.
Bar Graphs
What is Bar Graph?
A bar graph is a method for visualizing a set of data.
Simple bar graphs compare data with one
independent variable and can relate to a set point or
range of data. Complex bar graphs compare data
with two independent variables. Either type
of graph can be oriented horizontally or vertically.
What is the Purpose Bar Graph?
The Purpose of bar graph is to makes it easy to
compare sets of data between different groups at
a glance. The graph represents categories on
one axis and a discrete value in the other.
The goal is to show the relationship between the
two axes. Bar charts can also show big changes
in data over time.
Circle Graphs
What is Circle Graph?
A circle graph, also known as a pie chart, is
used to visualize information and data.
A circle graph is usually used to easily show
the results of an investigation in a
proportional manner. The arcs of a circle
graph are proportional to how many percent
of population gave a certain answer.
What is the Purpose Circle Graph?
The purpose of Circle Graph is to summare a set
of categorical data or displaying the different
values of a given variable ( e.g. , percentage
distribution). This type of chart is
a circle divided into a series of segments. Each
segment represents a particular category.
