Message relay:
•Let the class to be with their
group which composes of 5
members and form a
straight line
•Each will be given a piece of
paper where a message is
written.
•The task of each is to pass
the message written in the
paper until it reaches the last
member.
•The last person in the line
will write in a piece of paper
the message being passed.
* Each representative is given 1
minute to read and understand
the statement
* Group will be given 4 minutes
to pass the message until it
reaches the last member
* Group who can do the task within
the given time will have 5 points.

Communication
- the exchange of
information and
understanding between
sender and a receiver
Types of Communication:
1. Verbal ( use of oral and
written)
2. Non-verbal (body movements,
gestures, facial expressions, eye
contact and touching)
Barriers to communication
1.Filtering
-the shaping of information
communicated in order to
make it look good to the
receiver.
2. Emotions
- the interpretation of
communications may be
influenced by extreme
emotions felt by the
receiver.
3. Information overload
-too many pieces of
information received may
have a negative effect on
person’s processing
capacity.
4. Language
-words used maybe different
meanings to different people
belonging to different age,
educational or cultural
group.
5. National culture
-just like language, the
prevailing natural culture may
also cause problems in
communication among members
of an organization, especially, if
it is multinational company.
Overcoming barriers:
1.Using simple language
2.Active listening
3.Controlling emotions
4.Observing body language
Importance:
•It allows companies
to be productive and
operate effectively.
•Employees can experience
an increase in morale,
productivity and
commitment if they are able
to communicate up and down
the communication chain in
an organization.
