What is an interview?

An interview is a conversation
of two people (interviewer and
the interviewee) where questions
are asked by the interviewer to
obtain information about the
interviewee.
Types of
Interview
Face- to- face interview
This is a traditional interview and the most
common type of an interview.
In this interview the candidate and the
interviewer meets face- to- face.
The interviewee must contain eye contact
and respond to all the questions of the
interviewer.
Panel interview
Panel means a selection committee
that is appointed for interviewing the
candidate.
 Panel may include three or five
members.
Final decision are taken by all
members collectively by rating the
candidate.
Stress Interview
A stress interview allows interviewers to
see how well you work under pressure.
Being asked more than one questions at a
time.
Being asked further questions without
being allowed adequate time to respond.
Phone Interview
An interview for employment conducted on the
phone.
 Phone interview is a method in which the
interviewer communicates with the candidate
on the phone in accordance with the prepared
questionnaire
DO’s and DONT’s
• Do not assume anything
• Do not form pre-judgements
• Do ask both open and closed
questions
• Do not interrupt
• Do listen actively
• Don’t be late
Tips before, during
and after interview
BEFORE
• Get a good night’s sleep
• Eat a good breakfast
• Prepare questions beforehand
• Make sure your clothes are clean and wrinkle-free.
• Be neat and clean
• Be well prepared
• Do some research
• Turn off your phone
DURING
• Don’t talk too quickly.
• Don’t use slang.
• Don’t use words you don’t know the
meaning of.
• Don’t act nervous.
• Answer questions directly.
• Maintain eye contact and smile
• Proper posture
AFTER
• Drop off your thank you note.
• Create a list of items that you did
well and that you would like to
improve on.
• Get your interviewers' contact
information
