Introduction to Unity

• Unity is a cross-platform game engine developed by

Unity Technologies, first announced and released in
June 2005 at Apple Inc.'s Worldwide Developers
Conference as a Mac OS X-exclusive game engine. As of
2018, the engine had been extended to support more
than 25 platforms. The engine can be used to create
three-dimensional, two-dimensional, virtual reality, and
augmented reality games, as well as simulations and
other experiences. The engine has been adopted by
industries outside video gaming, such as film,
automotive, architecture, engineering and construction.
• Unity is the ultimate game development
platform. You can use Unity to build high-
quality 3D and 2D games, deploy them
across mobile, desktop, VR/AR, console .
It is a cross-platform game engine. which
is primarily used to develop video games
and simulations for computers, consoles
and mobile devices.
What is a Game Engine ??
• A game engine is the software that provides game creators
with the necessary set of features to build games quickly and
efficiently.

• A game engine is a framework for game development that

supports and brings together several core areas. You can
import art and assets, 2D and 3D, from other software,
such as Maya or 3s Max or Photoshop; assemble those assets
into scenes and environments; add lighting, audio, special
effects, physics and animation, interactivity, and gameplay
logic; and edit, debug and optimize the content for your
target platforms.
History CEO
CCO
CTO
• Unity Technologies was founded as Over the
Edge Entertainment (OTEE) in Copenhagen in
2004 by David Helgason (CEO), Nicholas
Francis (CCO), and Joachim Ante (CTO).
Over the Edge released its first game,
GooBall, in 2005.The game failed
commercially, but the three founders saw
value in the game development tools that
they had created to simplify game
development, and so they shifted the
company's focus to create an engine for
other developers.

• The company sought to "democratize" game

development and make development of 2D
and 3D interactive content more accessible.

Programming Done by Unity..

• Boo : Boo is an object-oriented

programming language. It looks
like python but not similar
• It is designed by Rodrigo B. De
Oliveira in 2003
• Boo is influenced by C# and
Python programming language
Games Made with Unity ..
• Temple Run 2 is an
“endless/infinite running”
game, which is a platform
game that has the player

continuously moves forward
on a never ending path.
These games' controls
operate by letting you swipe
to change directions and
jump while avoiding
oncoming obstacles and
pitfalls
And Many More...
