Immune Response: Dewi Wulandari

The immune system protects the body from pathogens and has powerful defense mechanisms to recognize and eliminate invaders. It consists of primary lymphoid organs like the thymus and bone marrow, secondary lymphoid organs like lymph nodes, and immune cells. The innate immune response is the first line of defense and includes anatomical barriers, humoral factors, commensal microbes, and cellular components like macrophages and dendritic cells. Upon activation, it causes inflammation and phagocytosis of pathogens, which then activates the adaptive immune response of B and T lymphocytes and antibody production.

IMMUNE SYSTEM
• The immune system is fundamental to survival, as it
protects the body from pathogens that cause
disease.

• Properties of immune system:

• Powerful defense mechanisms to recognize and
eliminate potential invaders
• differentiate between the individual’s own cells and
those of harmful invading organisms
