Mr T.
A Masuku, Cassim and
Christabel The commonest way to connect a printer to a PC is by USB cable.
You can also install a wireless printer or add a
printer connected to another PC on your network. 1. Connect the printer to Computer using the USB Cable and make sure its turned ON. 2. Open “Settings” App. 5.If Windows detects the Printer, click on the name of the printer and simply follow the onscreen instructions to finish the installation then your are ready to go. Turn on your printer and make sure it is connected to the network. Open the Control Panel Click on the Hardware and Sound link. Click on the Add a device link under Devices and Printers. Let Windows scan for the printer and if detected, select the printer and click Next. If the printer is not listed, click The printer that I want isn't listed and skip to add printer by name or TCP/IP address. If you know the printer's name, choose Select a shared printer by name and enter the path to the printer. For example, with a network named hope and a printer named hp, the network path would be: \\hope\hp. If you do not know the printer's path, but have the printer's IP address, select Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname. Click Next. How do I determine a printer IP address? If during the install, Windows asks for drivers, point to the location of your printer drivers. If you do not have drivers, visit our printer drivers section to find links to all printer drivers. Two things need to be configured on the host PC to make a printer accessible to other computers: 1. “File and Printer Sharing” must be enabled on the PC where the printer is connected. Go to the Control Panel (Start, Control Panel) and then click on “Network Connections” 2. Click on “View devices and printers” 3. Right click on the particular device (printer)
4. Click on “Printer properties”
5. Click on “Sharing” Enable printer sharing You can assign a name for your shared printer. This is the name that is visible when you browse the network from the computers where you want to access this printer. Once you have shared the printer on the host PC, you can use the Add Printer Wizard on the other machines to add drivers for it. The process is very similar to adding a local printer, but you will select Network printer or printer attached to another computer when you come to the Local or Network Printer screen. When you install a new printer, Windows typically names it after the manufacturer or model. You can rename by following the below given steps: Press Windows key and type Devices and Printers in search box and hit enter. Right-click a printer that need to renamed, and then click Printer properties. Click the General tab, and then type the new name in the text box.
