It is a 3 under/4 deep pattern match zone. Coverage calls will adjust to
formations.
STRENGTHS WEAKNESSES
1. Great SA run support to both sides. 1. Quick passing game vs. off corner.
2. Good vs. QB run game. 2. Play action passes.
3. Match up vs. 4 verticals.

Adjustments:
1.) VS TE/Flanker = Play “4”.
2.) VS 2 detached receivers to a side = Play “Cathy”.
3.) VS Minus splits between 2 detached receivers = Play “Cleo”.
4.) VS 2x2 Shotgun formations = Ni & Mike play “Banjo” vs #2 & #3.
5.) VS 3x1 = √ 6. In 6, play “Danger” to the 3-Man side & “Squat” to the single receiver.
6.) √ Mini to 3x1 & Empty Formations with a minus split between #2 & #3 Strong.
7.) Other possible 3x1 Adjustments: Saint, Robber, & Flow.

“4” Call
Description:
“4” is a ¼’s Read off the release of #2.
Adjustments:
1.) Corner play “loose man” on #1. May play press or off man technique.
2.) In a “4” call, the SA will flat foot read.
2.) #2 Outside 5 yds or less = OLB take #2 to the Flat. Safety zone your ¼ & look to help on #1.
3.) #2 Vertical over 10 yds= Safety man him up. OLB play the Curl.
4.) #2 Inside = Safety zone your ¼ & look to help on #1.
5.) VS. China = Corner sink & help Safety on the corner route by #2.
6.) SLB = Read release of TE – Flat responsibility on all passes.
7.) MLB = Drop off #3.
8.) WLB = 1st back weak or full flow, 1st crosser.

Description:
“Cathy” is a soft pattern read vs. 2 or more detached receivers. Corner and Safety must read the release
of #2 to their side. Responsibilities will be determined by release.
Adjustments:
1.) #2 Outside 5 yds or less = Corner takes the Flat. Safety work over the top of #1, OLB play Curl.
2.) #2 Inside = Corner man up #1. Safety zone your ¼ and look to bracket #1. OLB play Curl & Take #3 to the
flat.
3.) #2 Vertical over 10 yds = Corner man up #1. Safety man up #2 on vertical. OLB play Curl & take #3 to the
Flat.
4.) vs. China = Corner sink to help Safety on corner route by #2. Nickel run to China route.
5.) Safety & Corner pass off deep scissors route.
6.) Vs Minus splits between #1 & #2 = √ Cleo

Description:
“Cleo” is an in & out concept between the Safety & Corner vs. a minus split or stack alignment
between 2 detached receivers.
Adjustments:
1.) Corner align outside & shuffle.
2.) Corner & Safety will pass off #1 & #2 regardless of depth.
3.) OLB reads & responsibilities are the same as “Cathy” calls.

Description:
“Cloud” is a call that will be tagged with cover 2 or 4. It is run vs. 2x2 formations away from the
offset back vs. shotgun formations. The OLB is responsible for the vertical of #2 vs. 2 detached
receivers.
Adjustments:
1.) #2 Outside = Corner will take #2 to the Flat. OLB play the Curl, Safety play deep ½.
2.) #2 Vertical = OLB will run with vertical of #2. Corner will play #1. If #1 runs a shallow
crosser inside, the corner must take him. Safety plays outside vertical of #2.
3.) #2 Inside = OLB plays the Curl. Corner play the Flat. Safety play deep ½.
4.) VS. China = Corner play the Flat. OLB carry #2 vertical & undercut the corner route. Safety
play outside vertical of #2.
