Resistance to Change
• Resistance to change is the act of opposing or
struggling with modifications or transformations
that alter the status quo in the workplace of an
organization.
• Not all and every change is resisted.
• Most are accepted, with exceptions of a few.
Causes of resistance
• Lack of trust
• Perception that change is unnecessary
• Perception that change is impossible
• Fear of personal failure
• Loss of status or power
• Threats to values and ideas
• Social, cultural or organizational disagreements
