L01 - Introduction To Applied Physics

This document provides an overview of an applied physics course. It outlines the course details including the faculty, textbooks, marks distribution, weekly planning, and course topics covering electrostatics, magnetism, mechanics statics and dynamics. It also discusses online course resources and the importance and applications of physics, noting fields like communication physics, materials physics, and medical physics. Applied physics is intended for technological use and differs from engineering by focusing on developing new technologies rather than specific designs. Physics is important for computer science topics like software, graphics, human-computer interaction, electronics, and architecture.

Importance of Physics and its Applications
The science that deals with matter,
Physics energy, motion, and force.

Physics also makes significant contributions through

advances in new technologies that arise from theoretical
breakthroughs.

For example, advances in the understanding of

electromagnetism or nuclear physics led directly to the
development of new products which have dramatically
transformed modern-day society, such as television,
computers, domestic appliances, and nuclear weapons.
Applied physics is physics which is intended for
a particular technological or practical use.

It is usually considered as a bridge or a connection

between "pure" physics and engineering

It usually differs from engineering in that an applied

physicist may not be designing something in
particular, but rather is using physics or conducting
physics research with the aim of developing new
technologies or solving an engineering problem.
Fields of Applied Physics
Communication Physics, Engineering physics,
Fluid dynamics, Geophysics, Laser Physics,
Materials physics, Medical physics, Nanotechnology,
Optics, Optoelectronics, Photonics, Photovoltaics,
