LESSON 2:

DRAWING
DRAWING
•This is the process of moving
an instrument over a surface
to create lines.
•Usually it is the first step in
making 2D artworks

KINDS OF
DRAWING
• Life Drawing – drawing that is based
on observation of artist of its object.
• Emotive Drawing- a type of
drawing that emphasizes the
expression of different
emotions, feelings, and mood.
• Sketching – drawing done at
the “spur of the moment’’.
Artists puts down on paper
thoughts and ideas occur
constantly.
• Perspective Drawing – drawing
which artist uses its ability to
depict illusion of space on flat
surface.
SHADING TECHNIQUES
• It is the use of degrees of values
giving characteristics of having
depth and texture.
HATCHING – This is accomplished
by drawing thin lines that runs in
same direction.
CROSS HATCHING
• This is accomplished by criss-
crossing lines.
BLENDING
• This is accomplished by changing
the value little by little.
STIPPLING
• This is accomplished by using dot
patterns to create dark value.
A.Drawing with Graphite Pencils
• Pencils are capable of making different
kinds of lines and tones depending on 3
factors:
a. Sharpness of point
b. How much pressure is applied
c. Angle of how the pencil is held.
B. Drawing with charcoal
• The best way to hold vine charcoal
is between the first 3 fingers and
thumb with end not used pointing
downward.
• Compressed charcoal- square sticks
are offer than round ones. Lines can
made with corners of square sticks
and broad strokes with its flat size.

STAGES OF DRAWINGS
1. Look - study the image about to
drawn. Check the orientation and
consider light source to add realism
to the work.
2. Transfer the Information - arrange
the subject and space surrounding
them within drawing format.
3. Block in the Background- Add
third dimension by focusing an
shapes of shadows and cast
shadows .
4. Add third dimension with
volumegive each object a 3d quality
render texture.
5. Finish the drawing.
