Lie Detector

This document describes a project to build a lie detector using biomedical sensors, an Arduino Uno, and MATLAB/Simulink. The lie detector will measure a subject's blood pressure, breathing, sweating, voice intensity, temperature, and galvanic skin response while asking different types of questions to determine if they are lying. The project aims to provide law and intelligence agencies a legal alternative to torture for detecting lies that does not permanently harm subjects. Components include sensors for pulse, respiration, temperature, galvanic skin response, and voice intensity. Data from the sensors will be collected via Arduino and processed in MATLAB to detect lies.

Introduction

• Lie detector tests help in the process of distinguishing and

detecting truth from deceptive individuals.

• There are typically three types of questions used in

polygraph testing or voice stress analysis testing.

• Irrelevant questions establish a baseline to compare other

answers by asking simple questions with clear true and
false answers.

• Comparison questions have an indirect relationship to the

event or circumstance, and they are designed to encourage
the subject to lie.

• Relevant questions are compared against comparison

questions and irrelevant questions.
objective
• lie detection tests record a number of different bodily responses which can then be used to
determine whether someone is telling the truth. They usually measure things
like blood pressure, changes in a person's breathing, and sweating on the palms.

scope
• Law enforcement agencies and intelligence agencies in the countries are
by far the biggest users of polygraph technology.

• The reason for the use of lie detector test is its legality of using inhuman
degrading methods to confess the crime.

• Advantage over narco-analysis which involve the usage of drugs on the

accused. it can cause a permanent damage to brain if dosage not
calculated properly.

• The most important aspect is to ban the use of torture to seek

information on the accused.
