Additional relays in SIV loco
• QSVM
• QCON
• QTD101
• QSIT
15
QSVM
• It will ensure soft starting of
blowers.
• When BLVMT switch is closed
in loco energized condition,
SIV shall be ‘OFF’ for a while
and start working again.
• This is a time delay relay (2
sec ON delay timer)
• QSVM can be wedged in case
of failure, then before closing
DJ ensure BLVMT is switched
on.
16
QSVM
17
QSIT
• This relay is used to give the indication
that there are some fault (internal/
external) due to which converter is tripped.
• This relay opens the DJ also.
• QSIT energisation is indicated by LSSIT
• It can be reset by pressing RESET button/
ok button/HBA Off and On.
18
QSIT
19
QCON
• SIV proving relay
• This relay is used to give the
indication that converter output
voltage is fully developed i.e. 3
phase AC, 415V
• After starting SIV, if QCON is not
energized, LSCHBA will not
extinguish
• If QCON is not energized, CP
contactors will not close
• QCON can be wedged in case of
failure, but then Q118 also to be
wedged
20
QTD101
• Time delay relay for
compressor
• After starting SIV/ after
switching on BLCP or BLCPD
compressor starts with a time
delay of 5sec.
• It is provided in CP control
circuit
• Time delay between compressors
are achieved by relay Q119
• QTD101 can be wedged in case
of failure
• If QTD101 is wedged, BLCP
should be switched on after
extinguishing LSCHBA
21
HRAVT
• This switch provided for isolating cab
heater, cab fan, notch repeater & walkie
Talkie charger
• 0 position – all items isolated.
• 1 position- all item in service.
• 2 position - Cab heater isolated all other
items in service.
• 3 position – Notch repeater only in
service, all other items isolated.
22
CCINV
• 6A fuse provided for
SIV control circuit
• If it is melted, SIV will
not start
CCINV
23
HSIV
• Rotating switch
provided in switch
panel
• With two positions
namely `1’ and `0’
• Before pressing ELD
bypass switch HSIV
to be kept on `0’

Procedure to close DJ in SIV loco (Method 1)
35
Procedure to close DJ in SIV loco (Method-2)
• Switch on BLDJ
• Press BLRDJ,LSDJ Extinguishes, UA meter
deviates, Then release BLRDJ.
• SIV starts automatically after 10 to 15 seconds.
SIV proving relay ‘QCON’ is energises and
LSCHBA extinguishes.
• Switch on BLCP. QTD101 energises after 5
seconds delay and MCP starts working.
• Switch on ‘BLVMT’. Now SIV stops and restarts
automatically.
36
QSVM
• Supply to control circuit of SIV initially getting through NC interlock of
BLVMT.
• After closing BLVMT, QSVM energizes and NC interlock of BLVMT
opens in control circuit and SIV.
• After 2 second delay its QSVM interlock closes in control circuit and SIV
again starting.
• If double QSVM is provided, initial starting of SIV is through N/C interlock
of QSVM
• When BLVMT is ON both QSVM will energise.
• Condition for relay energizing
1. BLVMT is switched ON
2. CCA in good condition.
3. DJ is in closed condition
37
QCON
• This relay energises when SIV ramped up
full voltage.( SIV proving relay)
• Lamp LSCHBA will extinguishes.
• QCON N/O interlock provided in
Compressor control circuit. MCP will work
only after QCON energises.
38
QSIT & LSSIT
• SIV protection relay for earth fault, internal
fault etc.
• A lamp LSSIT will glow in cab
• QSIT interlock provided in MTDJ branch.
• This relay can reset by switching off HBA.
39
Relay QTD101
• When BLCP switched ON this relay will
energises with a 5 second delay.
• Its interlock closes in C101, C102, & C103
branch
– Time delay between compressors are
achieved by relay Q119
40
SIV not starting
• Check CCINV and CCA fuses.
• If the fuse melts, replace.
• If again fuse melts, keep HOBA in “OFF” and renew the
fuse.
• Ensure relay QV 60 is in de energised condition.
• If CCINV and CCA are good condition, check the QSVM
relay.
• If not energised, Ensure BLVMT is switched “ON” and
wedge QSVM in energised condition
41
MCP not working
42
• DJ tripping with LSSIT lamp glowing
– Trouble in Aux. power circuit or SIV
DJ tripping without LSSIT
– Tripping failure through control circuit of DJ.
43
Other Failures
• DJ tripping immediately after releasing BLRDJ
– Reason Q30 defect
44
• DJ Tripping with LSSIT lamp
• Check auxiliary power circuit
• Check the SIV panel for external or
internal fault lamp.
45
SIV stops and restarts automatically in
AAL
• If any internal or external fault occurs SIV
stops and restarts for 2 to 3 times normally
• If trouble is not rectified, DJ trips through
relay QSIT and LSSIT lamp glows in
driver’s desk.

53
DJ trips with LSSIT and external
fault lamp glowing.
Check auxiliary power circuit for any abnormality.
Check VFD panel for reason of tripping. If all are
normal, Reset QSIT and close DJ.
If again DJ trips with QSIT, Isolate cab heater, cab fan
and try.
If again DJ trips with LSSIT clear section with earth
fault bypass mode.
Before proceeding for bypass mode place HRAVT on 3
and switch off AC if provided.
54
• After clearing section cancel bypass mode.
• Place HRAVT on 0, remove CCSPM and close DJ
with out closing BLVMT and BLCP.
• If DJ trips, trouble is with five auxiliary motors
starting along with SIV. Isolate one by one and try
to isolate defective one.
• If DJ does not trips, Close BLCPD and wait. If DJ
trip with LSSIT, isolate defective MCP.
• If DJ does not trips, Close BLVMT and wait. If DJ
trip with LSSIT, isolate defective Blower motor.
55
INTERNAL FAULT
• DJ trips with LSSIT and internal fault message.
• (nature of message) Input fuse failure, over
temperature, Fan failure, VLD_OVD, FUSE_F
• Reset QSIT (switch off HBA and switch ON)
• If again trips switch off HBA for 3 minutes and
ON. Try to close DJ if un successful contact
TLC.
