3 Factors: classroom, home and community


 Formal interaction is usually done
 Has a stimulating climate (desirable physical
surroundings and social relationships)

location, ventilation, lighting,
instructional materials, chair
arrangement, room acoustics, provision
for orderliness, cleanliness and
sanitation.

b. Intellectual climate – refers to a learning
atmosphere characterized by activities
designed to challenge the intellect of the
learners. Provides for development of
skills, both creative and critical, problem
solving, diagnosing patterns of behavior
to be acquired through intellectual
exchanges.

1. autocratic – teacher directs & decides
2. laissez faire – not characterized by
interaction, individuals acts on his own

d. Emotional climate – refers to the mental

learners. Providing learners with a feeling
of being secure in his group, diminishing
his self esteem.

diverse.
 The discussion of learning environment
should also include assessment and
evaluation of the effectiveness of the
environments that institutions create.
 A thoughtfully designed learning environment
provides room for both authentic learning
and appropriate assessment.
 There is a demand for greater accountability
for learning outcomes and for the value of
higher education that sharpens the need to
understand learning environments.
 One of the important tasks of a teacher is to
create an effective learning environment
where learners will achieve more, acquire
more positive attitudes and be equipped with
basic solid skills that they can apply
throughout their lives.
 Teachers should have a thorough knowledge
of their subjects and able to assess learning
effectively.
 Home is another significant learning
environment in enabling children to develop
the trust, attitude and skills that will help
them learn as they embrace the world with
enthusiasm.
 Schools use community meetings to address
critical issues to teach values and to share
information.
