Effects of Using Technology As An Educational Tool For Senior High School Students in Mystical Rose School of Bulacan INC. S.Y. 2018 - 2019
• “Technology will pave the way for a new era in human history.
Using technology we have the potential to stop aging, enhance our
own bodies, and to ascend the biological limitation of the human
body. It has the potential to change what it means to be human”.
Parents : And as for parents, they could benefit from our study by
showing that using technology has good and bad effects to students
and also they would know if using technology as an educational tool
could contribute or not to the learning’s of their children.
1.3 OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY
Technology aids student’s expression. Present what they have learned. They can use
software to make presentations and projects. This makes them more interested in the subject
and leads to better retention of an information. With technological aids they can make easy to
remember notes and a creative presentation of the information they have acquired. It won’t be
wrong to say that application of technology has made a student’s life easy. It’s easier for student
to carry a PDA, than carrying a big fat book too and Due to the rapid expansiveness of
technology and its wide array of uses, the incorporation of technology in learning has become a
viable and inexpensive option. Almost three quarters of Americans, 73% believed that investing
in innovation and advanced technology sciences in education is the key to the country’s long
term success. (Harris Interactive, 2009).
Technology has revolutionized the field of education. The importance of technology in
school cannot be ignored. In fact, with the onset of computers in education, it has become
easier for teachers to impart knowledge and for students to acquire it. The use of technology
has made the process of teaching and learning enjoyable. (Muir-Herzig, 2008).
2.2 FOREIGN STUDIES
In the field of Computer-Assisted Language Learning (CALL) , the term “Net Generation” has clearly
defined by Prensky (2010) who states that the net generation members are ”digital natives” since they
“spent their entire lives surrounded by and using computers, video games, digital music player, video cams
, cell phones, and all the other tools of the digital age “ which make them different from the baby boomer
generation.
Those who are eager about the language learning need and necessities of the net generation, the edited
book by Oxford and Oxford (2009), entitled Net Generation is a must read resource. The book
describes empirical studies involving different innovative technologies and state of the art tools, offering
pedagogical ideas, effecting strategies, and useful suggestions on how these technologies could be applied
to enhance language teaching and learning. Also, educational technology usage in practice teaching can
make instructions to be much more interesting and enjoyable. The changing images and use of special
effects, among others can reduce boredom on the part of learners. Furthermore, classroom interaction
can be interactive. Technology can promote student-student interaction, student-teacher interaction, and
teachers-student interaction, if pre-instructional planning incorporates principle such as stimulus
variation, feedback, reinforcement, learner’ participation and so on. (Weiner, 2009).
2.3 LOCAL LITERATURE
Technology also saves teaching time as they require short-time to present large
information. They can be used to reveal needs and stimulate student’s question.
Thus learner’s interest can be aroused, maintained, and stimulated to promote
their imaginative power. On the whole, media ensure the application of
classroom-oriented communication techniques. Therefore, learners should be
assisted, encouraged and motivated not only to learn, but also to continue to
learn. (Demegilio, 2009)
2.4 LOCAL STUDIES
Part one: Collected the respondent’s profile that they have filled up personally such
as their age and gender.
Part two: The survey was a questionnaire that would determine if using technology as
an educational tool will affect their daily life in some way and if where, when, and
how they access their technologies every day.
For additional data and information we also gathered data by interviewing some of
the selected senior high school students.
3.3 DATA GATHERING PROCEDURE
The researchers personally administered the survey questionnaires to the respondents and
provided them with clear instructions on how to answer. The respondents answered the test
surveys at their convenient time and place within the school campus.
The senior high school students were first introduce to a two page questionnaire, that
questionnaire will have 7 questions on it, each question must have an answer. The data that was
extracted from the surveys will be classified, organized and tabulated accordingly. Later on, the
researchers also interviewed some of the selected students with the same following questions.
The researcher tabulated the data gathered from the answered surveys. Analyzation and
interpretation of data helped to formulate findings, conclusions and recommendations.

CHAPTER 5
SUMMARY, RECOMMENDATIONS,
AND CONLUSIONS
This research is conducted in
the premises of Mystical Rose
School Of Bulacan, with a total
number of 50 participants that are
in the senior high school
department of the said school.
The research took 4 months
5.1 SUMMARY to complete. The research is a
qualitative collecting materials. The
primary objective of this research
is for the researchers to know the
different effects of using
technology as an educational tool
for senior high school students.
The secondary objective of
this research is to know the
different kinds of technologies
students used in their daily lives
and for how long do they use the
said technology.
The first conclusion the researchers had is that technology has
5.2 CONCLUSIONS revolutionized the way we live and this includes the way we teach. Access to
the internet has given teachers and learners around the globe the opportunity
to learn, create, collaborate and be part of something that goes beyond their
classroom.
However, the benefits from using technology in a classroom will not be
seen unless students are prepared to interact and learn in a virtual
environment overall, students should be able to use technology responsibly,
effectively, consciously, productively and most importantly , critically.
The researchers also found things about the senior high school students
of Mystical Rose School of Bulacan.
• The senior high school students thinks that there are good and bad effects
of using technology as an educational tool.
• The senior high school students thinks that the bad effects of using
technology as an educational tool can be minimized by the good effects of
it.
• The senior high school student’s rely more on technology as an
educational tool because they no longer have books to get the information
on.
5.2 RECOMMENDATIONS
The researchers recommend the use of technology as an
educational tool but with strict supervisions by the teacher. The
researchers also recommend to increase the technological
department of this school specially on the senior high department
because they need it more. the researchers also recommend to put a
person in charge regarding cyber bullying, technology is great and all
but we cannot escape the bad effects of it especially cyber bullying it
can deal traumatizing damage to one’s mental health. The last thing
that the researchers recommend is a wifi all over the school the
researchers know that this will lead to more students being distracted
by their phone or by the wifi but the researchers think that this will
greatly improve their technology department.
