TOOLS CONNECTION RATIONALE

Binusmaya Learner  Facilitator This is our Learning Management System. It was developed
Learner  Content internally by Binus University and the place where all of the content
Learner  Learner material is located. This is where the Lecturer can set up
assignments, quizzes and additional material that might important
for the session. This LMS also provides forum discussion for
students to discuss and exchange ideas. The LMS also provides a
chat room between students to students and students to facilitators.
Email Learner  Facilitator Every Binus student are provided a university email. It is the main
@binus.ac.id Learner  Learner form of ‘formal’ communication between Learners to Lecturers as
well as among Learners. This tool usually being used by Lecturers
for an announcement, additional information, or other resources to
enhance student’s learning. It is also being used by Learners for
clarification and other things related to Operation.
WhatsApp Learner  Facilitator This tool is the main form of ‘informal’ communication between
Learner  Learner Lecturers to Learners as well as among Learners. It is a great tool for
discussion, sharing resources and class updates. Students even use
it to send a draft and asking feedback from respective Lecturer
before the final assignment due so that improvement can be made.
TOOLS CONNECTION RATIONALE
Cisco Webex Learner  Facilitator This is a video conferencing tool and has been used by Binus since
and Zoom Learner  Content the beginning of its online program. We have been using it for
‘virtual’ face to face class and it is a great tool for student’s
presentation as well as case study discussion. It is also a great tool
for remote ‘supervisory’ during the thesis writing process. The
Facilitators can directly present the content material to the students
during the Video Conference class.
Mentimeter Learner  Facilitator This is a good presentation tool and a very effective one when we
Learner  Content use it in combination with a video conference tool such as Cisco
Webex or Zoom. It has many features that enhance engagements
and it also has a quiz feature, in which the result can be exported
into Xls format. It keeps the student engaged during ‘virtual’
lectures and keep them motivated as it has scoring features.
Lecturers can even import the powerpoint slides into the application
and run it from the app and set up the quiz schedule every 15 to 20
minutes.
TOOLS CONNECTION RATIONALE

Wisemapping Learner  Facilitator This is a good tool to be used when ‘mind-mapping’ is needed in the
Learner  Learner class. It is also can be used for brainstorming, exchange research
ideas and plotting research topics into a single document and see
how they connect between one to another. It is a good collaborative
tool for students when they want to search for ideas or topics for
research publication. It is also a good tool for Lecturers to give
feedback on his/ her students effort in finding the topic for research
publication.
Screencast-o- Learner  Learner This is a good tool to be used when we want to explain new things to
matic Learner  Content the Learners. We can just simply create a video and share it with
them. I have made a few videos explaining how to use SPSS for
several types of statistical analysis, and how to read the results (this
explains the learner to content interaction). I also have asked
students to do their case studies presentations using the tool, which
comprised it into less than 15 minutes (this explains the learner to
learner interaction). And I have used the tool a few times to review
their case study and give them feedback (this explains the learner to
facilitator interaction). It is also a good tool to be used when we need
to do ‘asynchronous’ thesis supervisory.
