Introduction
 What is a rectifier ?
 Rectifier is an electrical device which converts an
Alternating current into direct current to flow
through it in one direction only.
Why we need a rectifier ?
 Most of the electronic devices are works on D.C.
Supply.
 But the power we get to our house is A.C. .
 So we need a convertor to convert an A.C. power to
D.C. power.
 This conversion is done by the rectifier.
Types of rectifier
 Single phase half wave rectifier.
 Single phase full wave rectifier.
 Three phase half wave rectifier.
 Three phase full wave 6 pulse rectifier.
 Three phase full wave 12 pulse rectifier.
 Three phase full wave 24 pulse rectifier.
Single phase half wave rectifier.
 We can only get output from positive half cycle.
 Rippel factor is high in this rectifier.
 Power loss is high in this rectifier.
Single phase full wave rectifier.
 It is used for low voltage .
 Ripple factor is high but it is less then the ripple
factor of single phase half wave rectifier.
 Efficiency is low.
 Losses are high.
 We can get two pulse of pulseting D.C. by one ac
cycle.
Three phase half wave rectifier.
 From one complete cycle of an A.C. we get three
pulse of pulseting D.C.
 So the power output is high.
 Ripple factor is low compare to single phase
rectifier.
Three phase 6 pulse rectifier.
 We get six pulse pulsating d.c. output from 0 to
360.
 The power output is more then half wave rectifier.
Three phase 12 pulse rectifier.
24 pulse rectifier.
24 pulse rectifier.
