Difference Between Si and Ci Engines

The document compares spark ignition (SI) engines and compression ignition (CI) engines. SI engines use petrol as fuel and operate on the Otto cycle, while CI engines use diesel as fuel and operate on the Diesel cycle. CI engines have higher compression ratios and thermal efficiencies than SI engines but produce more noise, hydrocarbons, and vibrations. CI engines are also heavier, more expensive to maintain, and harder to start than SI engines.
