Does any of this sound
normal?
Every business has safety risks and NSU is no different. Rather,
it suffers greatly in one aspect, which is security.
They are faced with increase work place stress which can lead
to illnesses or depression. The potential stress may limit their
ability to perform during emergency situations.
The security department consists of around 200 people who
are responsible for safety and security of the university. But
they struggle to stay alert, and feel left behind due to long
working hours with minimal payment.
Exposure to workplace hazards:
Sitting in a proper posture is an undiscovered territory for
them yet it is essential to keep posture correct as they are
sitting on work. Without a straight back and shoulder in line
they are prone to spinal disorders.
For employees in the parking lot-inhaling carcinogenic
exhaust fumes, and spending long hours in an enclosed dim
space daily may lead to many problems, such as depression,
lung disease, acute poisoning and muscular disorders.
Supporting staff working in sanitation department have the
risk of penetrating injury from syring and other sharp
instuments and contaminated with chemicals and medical
wastage from medical and labrotory department which may
