The Philippine Health Care Delivery System: National Level

The Philippine health care delivery system operates at both the national and local levels. At the national level, the Department of Health leads the system and oversees the implementation of health sector reforms aimed at improving health outcomes, responsive health systems, and equitable financing. The reforms include a national health insurance program. At the local level, inter-local health zones are established to efficiently deliver services across municipalities through clustered referral hospitals and primary facilities.

defined geographical area; comprises of
central referral hospital and a number of
primary level facilities (RHUs and BHS)
 Importance: reintegration of hospital and
public health service for a holistic delivery of
health services
Composition of ILHS
