This document describes a student project to efficiently charge a battery from a photovoltaic (PV) module. The project aims to tackle energy crisis by developing an efficient power conversion mechanism from solar radiation. The system block diagram shows a solar panel, charging circuit, and load connected via a controller. Mathematical models of the PV cell and equations for parameters like current, voltage, and power-voltage curves are provided. Components like a MOSFET driver circuit and boost converter are specified. Future work may address partial shading problems and applying solar charging to electric vehicles.

INTRODUCTION
• Increase in demand of resources.
• Necessity of diesel and petrol.
• Since there is depletion of non-renewable resources,
renewable resources are required.
• For example:

Biomass energy Tidal energy Wind energy

• Solar energy is abundantly available.
• Renewable energy like solar energy is abundantly available
that has made it possible to harvest it and utilize it properly.
• Using solar energy is a portable operation whenever
wherever necessary.
OBJECTIVE
• In order to tackle the present energy crisis one has to develop
an efficient manner in which power has to be extracted from
the incoming solar radiation.
• The power conversion mechanism has been greatly reduced
in size in past few years.
• The increase in the efficiency of operation of solar modules is
effective in the field of utilization of renewable source of
energy.

Components specifications
• C=0.1uF
• R=330Ω
• Mosfet Rf540
• Mosfet driver TLP250 like other MOSFET drivers have
input stage and output stage .It also have power supply
configuration.
• It is optically isolated . It means input and output of
TLP250 mosfet driver is isolated from each other . It works
like optocoupler.

FUTURE SCOPE
• The application of PV array normally faces the shading
problem of solar light: this will lead to inconsistent power
generation and low system efficiency. Future research can
investigate to solve the partial shaded problems in photo
voltaic power generation .
• In future charging of car can be accomplished through
solar charging .
