5. How helpful is the collection

of data in any survey?
MOTIVATION

When you were in grade

four, you were asked to
make bar graphs. Can you
still remember how a bar
graph looks like?
MOTIVATION

In presenting data, graphs and charts

help people understand the sense of
data quickly. They help in
determining relationships, trends or
comparison. One of these graphs is a
line graph. Today, we will study about
line graphs, its parts and how to make
one.
PRESENTATION

Carlo’s family is planning to visit

Baguio. They wanted to be there in its
coldest atmosphere. Carlo made a
research on the average monthly
temperature during vacation months,
October (Sembreak), December
(Christmas break), April and May
(Summer break).

FIXING SKILLS

1. Plot the given data on a line

graph.
2. What was the initial
temperature?
3. What did you observe in the
values in the table?
4. What can you say about the data?
GENERALIZATION

1. What is a line graph?

A line graph is a type of chart
which displays information as a
series of data points called
markers’ connected by straight
line segments.
GENERALIZATION

2. What are the steps in making

a line graph?
1. Draw the lines for the x-axis and the y-axis.
2. Use the data from the table to label the axes.
3. Plot the points that correspond to each
variable in the table.
4. Connect the points with a line segment.
5. Put a title on the graph.
GENERALIZATION

3. How are line graphs

different from bar graph?
Line graphs are presented
using lines while bar graphs
are presented by bars, so the
name implies.
APPLICATION

a participant of a fun run.
