Magazines
Depicted here are three examples of magazines in the music industry.
Although they focus on different genres and artists (reggae, rock and country),
they all follow a similar layout; the featured artist taking center and majority of
Music Magazines the page with the text colors and fonts fixed to their style. This could be a
reference to those artists taking spotlight (a visible light source is typically
behind said performers, with is like a spotlight).
The magazine title typically is a pun or reference to the artist, with the Queen
one having the title of We Will Rock You; a direct reference to one of their most
iconic songs.
Quotes in blurbs and subtitles surround the main photo typically praising the
artist or discussing controversy; which is used to get the reader curious on the
articles.
Most video game magazines have a retro feel to them; with
mascots and character models from the 1990's depicted and
the font choices and colors referencing older video games. This
is to attract a wider audience; both appealing to young and
Video Games older generations of fans. The older fans would receive
nostalgia from seeing the magazine whilst younger and eager
fans would be curious to learn more about the origins of
Movie Magazines first from when the Hunger Games movies were still being
released.
This allows the magazine to target a variety of audiences in
ages and gender roles, as the actors depicted are universal from
household names and series.
In contrary to the other magazine's genres , TV Magazines
design themselves in a similar fashion to tabloid magazines;
brighter and white backgrounded colour schemes and blurbs
Tv Magazines teasing other articles within the magazine. TV shows are often
the ones to be associated with comedy or slapstick fashion,
hence the more relaxed approach. Celebrities featured in these
magazines are often on tabloid magazines too (such as soap
opera stars).
