 Sejak awal 1990-an behavioural based
safety berkembang pesat menjadi senjata
dalam memerngi kecelakaan kerja
 Penerapan teknik BBS dapat mengurangi
kecelakaan antara 40-75% dalam waktu 6-
12 bulan (hasil penelitian)

rekayasa dapat mengurangi resiko unsafe
behavior, tapi tidak selalu berhasil

memerlukan pendekatan :

• Memberikan hukuman sampai pekerja
melakukan safe bahavior (?)  bisa efektif bisa
tidak
• Memberikan penghargaan kepada pekerja yang
melakukan safe behavior (?)  manajemen
memastikan bahwa penguatan untuk safe
behavior lebih kuat daripada unsafe behavior
APLIKASI
 Pekerja adalah orang terbaik yang dapat
merubah norma K3 karena mereka sendiri
yang mengontrol perilakunya.
 Kekuatan manajemen (line management)
sangat dibutuhkan, tapi mengandalkan itu
saja belum tentu berhasil.
APLIKASI
 Pekerja diberi tanggung jawab dan batasan-
batasan untuk mengidentifikasi dan memantau
tindakannya (safe and unsafe behavior)
 Pekerja menyusun sendiri target perbaikan K3
bagi mereka.
 Hasilnya, kelompok kerja dapat menentukan
norma-norma K3 dalam lingkungan kerja
mereka
 Line management memfasilitasi proses dengan
memberikan sumber-sumber dan dukungan
untuk “employee ownership of safety”
